The word "diet" does not mean losing weight. Diet means - "What you eat every day." So when I got on the scales and found that once again I was tipping the scales at 300 lbs and my blood sugar was into the 200s, I decided to look at myself and think about this word "diet" in a new way! I have battled with this word for way too long and now I realize that I have some pretty "stinking thinking" when it comes to what I eat. I am looking to change my life style! I am 56 and I don't want to continue to struggle with my health for the rest of my life. I can continue like I am going and wind up sick and dying or I can take control over my body and make good use of the LIFE that God has given me!
As a child of God I want to get order into every aspect of my life! Hebrews 12:11 says that no discipline is pleasant at the time, but rather it is painful. But this verse also promises that discipline will produce righteousness. Discipline is key to health or as Jesus called it, being "whole." As an overweight woman of 56 with two bad knees, and a bad back and congestive heart failure...I am not feeling very healthy and certainly NOT WHOLE! But as I begin this weight lose journey, I will begin to thank the Lord daily for good health! I will exercise my body and my spirit and give God the GLORY! I will praise the God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did. Losing weight will not only be a physical commitment but it is also a spiritual commitment that I am starting today!
