My name is Jan. My original username of "Aging Fatty" was selected on 11/29/14 at the start of yet another weight depression. I left SP in June/2015 and returned in Dec/2017. I kept my original username when I returned as a constant reminder of what I did not want to be. When I reached the 30-pound weight loss mark, I decided to change my username to "Aging Healthier". I am determined to continue to eat healthy for my remaining lifetime. I still have more weight that I want to lose, but for now the "Fatty" in me is gone

I have been doing the Silver Sneakers Fitness Program 3-5 times a week for 7 years. Exercise alone will not make me lose weight. I continue with the program to improve my balance and body strength. In 1999 I had a major stroke (complete left side paralysis) and I sill have left-sided weakness after all these years. I don't give up on continued improvement even though my body has limitations. I move slower than most of the others in the classes, but I don't care, as any movement is better than none. I am not looking for sympathy by saying this. It is what it is! If I give up, then I could lose it all.

My Goals:
To reach a weight that I feel healthy and comfortable at... one that my doctor will begin to ween me off of some of the heart medications that I take regularly.

To continue exercising 3 days/week (or more) for a lifetime.

To do no-handed chair sits.



My Program:
Tracking my food every day and keeping within the limits SP sets for me (for the first 30 pounds I lost), after which I switched to a whole food plant-based way of eating and don't count calories and continue to lose weight slowly.

Cardio exercises 3 days a week and strength training mixed in along with it.
AKA Silver Sneakers Fitness classes

Eliminate all sugar laden foods. Satisfy my sweet tooth with fruit and stevia.



Personal Information:
I grew up in St Paul, MN.
I raised my two 20-something sons in Racine, WI. I currently live with my 2nd husband near Nashville, TN. We started rescuing cats together in 2001, but stopped at 17 when they "took over". There are 12 cats that currently share our home with us.
Oh, and we are both retired.


Other Information:
I lead a very simple life, enjoy chatting with my friends at the YMCA. I like to read and do so every evening.
