My Goals:
My goals are to reduce my weight; increase my endurance; decrease my blood pressure and cholesterol, and thus my need for medication.
My Program:
I'm monitoring my food intake and have been surprised to find out that I hadn't been fooling myself as much as I thought I might be.
I'm also attempting to increase my activity.
I've gone from a completely in-home program to one combining some home and some outside activities.
I'm using Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds Express DVD, Sit and Be Fit, Chair Dancing and a couple of DVD's developed for people with MS.
I joined my local YMCA and do water aerobics there.
Personal Information:
I'm been married to a wonderful man for 31 years. He thinks I'm beautiful, regardless of what I weigh. He is extremely supportive of anything that is important to me.
I have two grown sons who are both married and living nearby.
I turned 66 yrs old this past June.
I have MS and degenerative joint disease which has affected my spine as well as my knees, and to a lesser extent, my hands.
Losing weight would decrease the stress on my joints and might allow me to reduce or eliminate medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol.
Of course, fitting into smaller sizes would be a nice side benefit!
Other Information:
I am active in my Chapter of the National MS Society and lead a support group; teach the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education.
I have a service dog and am involved in ongoing training.
