This is a healthy way of life not a diet. Getting rid of the diet mentality isn't easy! This adjustment to my thinking is difficult.

For some reason, I thought that just losing weight would make my life the life I have always wanted. In order to do that, I have to learn to love myself as I am at any weight first. Exercise makes me feel good and gives me confidence but the major part of weight loss is between my ears. Getting into the nitty gritty of my emotional issues and changing my thoughts about myself is an ongoing project.

Some of my biggest challenges have come from trying to be active when injured. It can be done with many modifications and lots of patience. I've recently become a big fan of Silver Sneakers at my gym. I've got four joint replacements and I'm amazed that I can still work out, even if it is only pushing a grocery cart around Walmart!

My small piece of advice is:

Never give up on yourself! You are worth fighting for!

My Program:
I will use food to nourish instead of using it to medicate myself.

I will drink 8 + cups water daily.

I will eat 5+ fruits/veggies daily.

I will add anti-inflammatory foods to my eating plan .

I will do some sort of cardio for 10+ minutes 7 days a week .

I will keep a food diary daily either written or online.

I will get 7+ hours of sleep per day.

I will pace my activities daily.

I will pay attention to pain levels daily.

I will be kind to myself if I slip up and will get right back on my program.

Personal Information:
I'm a retired teacher who still loves to learn new things.

I am an optimist and refuse to dwell on the past. It is better to learn from it and move on.

I love animals. Their love is unconditional!

Doing creative activities always lifts my mood and I'm already a happy person to begin with!

Other Information:
I enjoy:
Reading, word jumbles, letter sudokus, crafts, helping other people, music, creative healthy cooking, exercising with modifications, using my brain, being creative, acting silly/laughing, and learning new things.

    Hi Cyndi, thanks for checking in to see how we were. After a 72 hr. bug I am doing great. I am down to 192.2 and totally amped about it, after being on a plateau for over almost 2 mos.

    Thank you for your comment on the LSP blog. And congrats to you for your progress so far. I just briefly read through your page. Wow.... 100 lbs! You can do it though. Give every thing that let you to those extra pounds to God. He will heal your soul and give you a new living temple. When you emerge out from under all that extra weight, a new day will begin for you... it will be the beginning of the rest of your life. Just like a butterfly... or a flutterbug so to speak. Hope is only born after knowing something about suffering. And happiness is earned, not just handed to us. Let go of everything that has kept you down in the past and free yourself to a new tomorrow.     Thanks for the comments on When do I stretch, before or after exercise". You are doing great already. I also have some serious health problems and am trying to get stronger and healthier and lose weight and this SP is a wonderful place to be.
