Love to Dance?
I LOVED dancing for thousands at MILWAUKEE BUCKS basketball games, with Seniorgee, a team of 20 dancers, aged 60 to 80. We rocked the house to screams & standing ovations from fans. I was on the team from Day One, for 5 seasons. My jersey for 2010-2011, read "BSUE 69", my nickname & age. Team sponsor, Village at Manor Park, promotes the team with the slogan, "You're Never Too Old To Play". I dropped out, to prepare for selling our house and relocating to Nashville, Tennessee. My final performance in Milwaukee was December 30th, 2011, when we welcomed the new year by dancing the Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Dougie, Wobble and Party Rock, in a big free-for-all mob scene, with Energee (sexy Bucks dancers like us, only younger). Seniorgee has sent me on my way with flowers, hugs, kisses and tears. Great friends. SparkPeople has helped me maintain 65% of my weight loss. I'm working to improve that number. Back in the 1970's I wore a Weight Watchers pin with 9 diamonds in it, signifying a 100-lb weight loss. I worked for them for 5 years, teaching eight classes a week by the time I left. My highest documented weight was 238, and I'm 5 feet 0 inches petite. Exercise was not a prioity until the summer of 2003, when I discovered tap dancing. I have since studied tap, ballet, street jazz, pole dancing, and hip hop. The back story about my exercise started in 2002. I was suffering with pain caused by spondelolysis. Small openings in vertabrae 4 & 5 led to pressure on the sciatic nerve, which caused shooting pains (about every 5 minutes while standing) down my right leg, from hip to foot. Doctors threatened me with "fusion" (the surgical kind, not the dancing kind). It all came to a head for me, emotionally, in January of 2003, when they told me to lose weight and exercise (or else) and sent me home with a diet and a back brace. By that summer when I began my first dance class, I had lost 18 lbs. The pain subsided enough, as I continued losing weight and dancing, to allow me to escape surgery. In 2005 I found Michelle, an accomplished dancer AND an expert in pilates. We used pilates techniques and pilates equipment classes, to strengthen my core and back muscles. The corrections removed pressure on the sciatic nerve. No more shooting pains. I am grateful for that experience. I was born May 3, 1942 in a little coal-mining town in the Appalachian mountains of Lee County, Virginia. I lived in the Smoky Mountains with Granny Rose from ages 6 through 9. My parents had gone "up north" to Kalamazoo, Michigan to find work and get their marital act together. My goal is to maintain a weight that is healthy, PERMANENTLY. I want to remain strong, flexible and injury-free as many years as possible There continues to be something special about SparkPeople for me, whether I'm here posting or not. On March 5th, 2008 I was notified that the SparkPeople Community believed I was a motivation to others and that I was to be designated a SparkPeople MOTIVATOR. I hope that the Sparkies were right and that my story can be of help. The great news is that I personally finished cleaning up that big house in Wisconsin and it sold right away. The downsizing work from our years of "borderline hoarding" is completed. My husband is retired, and here we are, just outside Music City (aka Nashvegas), a very nice place to be. July 1st of 2013 we moved into an 1100 sq ft apartment (each with our own walk-in closet and bathroom) in a gated community. Lah-de-dah. We have a swimming pool, exercise room, club house, tennis court, enjoyable neighbors, and no yard work to do. Keeping the place clean is easy because it's small. It stays clean enough that visitors could drop by at any time. Too many possessions was a burden that I am relieved to have put down.

How are you doing, woman? Let us know.
You were always one of my favorites- I'd love to see you check in again. I know you reached so many of the 'real' goals. Not just the pounds- but the moving. Keep on dancing.
