Introduction Text I call upon my inner warrior to give me the strength to stand against the negative voices in my head. I call upon her courage to face the unknown. I invoke her determined spirit. And I know that, however long it may take, I WILL succeed because I am successful. I vow to never think of weight loss as going backward, but instead, to embrace it as forward motion because as time moves forward, so does life. I cannot return to my 17 year old body. I can create the 27 year old body that I desire for myself. Most of all, I will remember that balance exists already. My body knows what it needs. I will trust my instincts over my patterns. I choose health over a never ending cycle of misery. I will face my fears and conquer my inner demons because I am a survivor, and I am not afraid. I will finish what I started because I don't know how to quit.

My #1 goal is to feel comfortable in my own skin, regardless of the number on the scale or the size on the tag. #2, so far I have no serious health problems and I aim to keep it that way.

I was raised in Alabama and have made my home in Maryland. I currently live about 3 miles outside of DC with my husband (PJ), our two adopted dogs (Loki & Mario) and cat (Danaerys). I am a student at Maryland University of Integrative Healthy, working toward my Master of Science in Herbal Medicine. I am passionate about music, animals, and civil rights.

I am exceptionally spiritual, but not religious at all. I believe that the Universe is big enough for all the god/esses that have ever existed. I believe my gift in this life is accepting people (and animals) exactly as they are. I only read books that involve fantasy and magic. I believe that there is magic in anything that makes us feel special. I am a superstitious gypsy at heart. I love folklore, folk music, folk in general.
