Introduction Text I'm recently retired after teaching for 34 years. I have a few "marbles" left, but after the chalkdust settled, decided that being 100+ pds. overweight will not allow me to do all the things I dreamed of doing . I've been a great motivator to children...surely I'm smarter than a second-grader! I'm also computer-challenged, but am determined to get connected. I CAN DO THIS....with God's help and the support of fellow sufferers. Obesity is a lonely state of being! I am not lacking in the love department...as I had a rare, wonderful, sweet, and devoted husband. We adored each other! He suffered from diabetes and heart disease. I spent so much energy trying to do everything I could to help him stay healthy. He fell into the arms of Jesus July 14th, 2009. I'm ready to invest that same energy in making myself healthier. My children and grandchildren deserve a healthier matriarch. Less of me and more of Him!

My goal is once and for all turn myself around and end this battle and be done with it!

I'm going to drink 8 glasses of water a day, track my food and keep within my suggested limits, use SparkPeople as a weapon of defense, add exercise, and daily devotions to keep me strong.

I'm a 62 year old daughter, sister, widow, mother, and grandma to a wonderful family. I love to read, watch black and white movies, and watch Imus in the Morning with my coffee. A folksong can make me cry.

IMAGINE...having a healthy body, normal weight, energy, self-control, self-love, guiltless, free from the obsesion with food! TEMPTATION IS NOT A SIN, IT'S A CALL TO BATTLE!
