Candy's Journey Back to Health
I'm morbidly obese and have been for years (on and off). I can't remember a time when I didn't have a weight problem. I also can't recall a time before May of 2017 when I wasn't constantly hungry. This time around, my goal is to change from "living to eat" to a healthier "eating to live." Of course I aim to lose weight, but I want to be over-all healthier as well. This time around, my goal is to change from "living to eat" to a healthier "eating to live." Of course I aim to lose weight, but I want to be over-all healthier as well. To that end, I have embraced the LCHF (low carb, high fat), or KETO, way of eating. I no longer eat grain or grain products or sugar, which basically means I eat no processed food. Sugar and grain are EVERYWHERE. I am a sugar addict; I KNOW! I now consume no vegetable or grain based oils. Those oils, and other processed foods, are what are making so many people sick these days. They are NOT the healthy foods that government and big food tells us they are. Instead, I use fats from meat (I once again cook with bacon grease, like I learned from my mother), butter, and oils from coconut, nuts, seeds and olives. I am slowly losing weight at a healthy pace, and I am able to eat things that satisfy my hunger and keep my tummy happy for a long time. I eat meat, fish, chicken, eggs, real cheese (not processed crap or "cheese food"). I avoid potatoes and other starchy or sugary veggies, instead getting my nutrients from green leafy and cruciferous and other non-starchy vegetables, some occasional berries, and meat, nuts and seeds. I eat plenty of healthy fats, and I'm almost NEVER hungry! I salt EVERYTHING! Do you miss salt? I DID. I can eat this way for the rest of my life, and I plan to do just that.

My Goals:
Get down to a healthy weight and stay there. Find a doctor who will work with (instead of fighting) my new way of eating. YES, I FIRED my doctor. He was unwilling to do what was best for his patients.
My Program:
ketogenic way of eating - high fat, moderate protein to maintain muscle, very low carbohydrate (not counting fiber). It's a culture change, but WORTH IT. Research it at ketogenicforums.com or dietdoctor.com to learn more. It's not a fad, it's SCIENCE.
