HI all
I"m 50 Canadian and married with 3 children. I started gaining weight after my first was born 24 years ago and it slowly creeped up. I had surgery a few years ago which after that I gained another 18lbs and my activity level hit the dumps. I then ended up with a knee that needs replacing but I"m still too young they say to have that done and then 3 yrs later I tore the meniscus in the other knee and it's still not right and I put on more weight and had to give up activites I loved like hiking and belly dancing and couldn't find anything to substitute that I could do with my knees that I really liked as much as these 2 activities. at least I can still kayak with bad knees!
What sparked me to do something about my weigh was a series of things that fell all at once into place, my weight went over 250lbs which got me thinking I'm closer to 300 than 200!! I was huffing and puffing doing very simple things even though i was fairly active. A dear friend passed away that aug and she was only 4 years older than me.
I had lost 35 lbs with sparkpeople but then when I injured my knee and couldn't exercise and just totally fell off the wagon. well I'm getting ready to get back on the wagon just have to find another way than what i was doing. This isn't going to be an easy road since I can't just get up and do a workout or take a walk but I have to do something just can't sit around.
MAN I HAVE TO CHANGE MY LIFESTYLE AND GET IN SHAPE FOR ME!!
this site has given me help getting motivated, given me support, encouragement and help in getting healthier and losing weight
I have met so many wonderful people here!
I am done feeling tired
I am done not being able to keep up

i am updating my program I have just a few simple steps for success
1. drink lots of water
2. eat proper portions, eat everything in moderation esp desserts and snacks
3. get off my butt and move and shake it
to me that's all it takes to lose weight, very simple but yet so hard!
the key is that when we slip up we just keep right on plugging away at it never give up. that is what is going to make it successful in the long run
