Sparking on Cape Cod


Have been through surgery and rehab for lung cancer and am now dealing with it for the third time, along with COPD, Asthma and Glaucoma. I am currently using a gym along with hiking and walking & eating more healthy foods I have reached my weight goal of 140 lbs and am maintaining a program of diet and exercise. I am now enjoying life and all the friends I have made while here at SparkPeople.

My Goals:
Met my weight goal and am improving other areas of my life. (consistent exercising and more positive outlook)


Lost 55 lbs. and maintaining

My Program:
 Walking/hiking 2-3 miles a day along with regular exercises
I am back at the gym--all new equipment!!


Personal Information:
I live on Cape Cod and am a lung cancer survivor x 2 with#3 coming up.



I was operated on successfully and have been through rehab and am now using a home gym and community gym and am eating healthier.
Now dealing with COPD,Glaucoma and Cataracts
Oh the joys of aging!!

Other Information:
 I am now cutting and splitting fire wood for wood stove. This is for my winters heat and is great exercise. I also try for at least a 2 mile hike each day with my furry friend.

    Sorry to hear about your spider bite. They can be nasty. No problems with COVID 19. Living 11 miles from the nearesr small town, 45 miles from a little larger one and 90 miles from Billings keeps us pretty isolated. I did get my 2 grandchildren to homeschool though. Life is pretty much normal. Thanks for asking. Looking forward to a planned trip to Falmouth 9/2021 with my siblings. I am sure we may make it all the way to Chatham at some point. Take care. Hope you survived COVID 19 without any problems too (other than a spider bite).

    That's a good looking pup you have there Bob... Well it seems that its a day here and two days i am gone from the site. spent a week in the hospital earlier in the month due to pneumonia and still haven't gotten where i was. breathing sucks. but i am back up to 31 minutes on the exercise bike daily. When i left Ohio i left all of my weights back there so i need to get me a new set of dumbbells to go along with my bike rides...I hired a contractor to build me a tiny house out of a 20x60 shed he has in his yard onto which he is also building me a bathroom onto to it...hopefully before my birthday on the 18 of next month i should be moving into my new house with Scruffie...good to hear from you Bob.... emoticon

    Hi Bob,

    What a pleasant surprise that you stopped by.

    We're keeping busy building raised beds for veggies. It's finally happening!

    I got rabbits (see my blogs). I'm building cages ... what a job!

    We've been supplying neighbors with eggs since the shortage. It helps pay for some of the poultry feed.

    We planned to travel down south to look at property but Covid put a damper on that.

    What are you doing indoors? Time to split wood! ha ha

    We're lucky to have our son and daughter go out for us and sanitize everything coming in to the house.

    We are required to wear face coverings in public. Sadden by those who continue to not take this seriously.

    Sounds like you are taking precautions by going out in public early. Glad you were able to bake bread.

    I'm having a difficult time finding dry beans. DD found some today for me so I'll be pressure canning some soon. I have a pending order thru Walmart for white beans that I ordered two weeks ago. They'll notify me when ready for pick up. There's a ham bone and ham steak in the freezer so there will be ham and bean soup in the pantry within the week.

    You may want to check on line for yeast. I saw some on Amazon.
