    SparkPeople is not another diet; it is a positive lifestyle you will continue forever. If you are currently on medication, be sure to take it as directed. Try to eliminate as much sodium as possible (was very hard for me as I love the taste. Now I don't miss it).
    Stay focused and keep a positive attitude as this will be a great help to you in your daily life!!! Smile although sometimes that is the hardest, but it really helps!!! And, if nothing else, it makes people wonder what you're up to.
    Be sure to drink plenty of water (8-8oz glasses daily) and walk. Water and walking will help you on this journey of lowering numbers and weight loss. Start small if that is all you can do and add to it as you feel fit. Even 5-10 minutes several times a day adds up to bigger numbers and will keep you moving. Invest in a good pedometer (about $10) and see how many steps you currently take each day. Before long you will be adding steps just to see how many you can do and how far you can go. WHAT A GREAT MOTIVATOR!!! YOU can do this!!!
