Thanks for your comment. I have actually had my sugar tested numerous times and have never had an issue. I have been put on Metformin before as well due to having PCOS, and that never did anything for me. I appreciate the advice though, thank you!

In Richard Bernstein's book "The Diabetes Solution" he has a full chapter on PCOS. He says most all obese young women have the problem. I know I had it from age 13, as I had to take fertility medication to get pregnant when I was 25, but I stayed slim all those years because I only ate one time a day (intermittent fasting, but didn't know what that was back in the 60s=80s.) Once I had my last child at 41, I was busy with 5 children that I didn't get the weight off. I was 214# when I joined Sparks. I hated being fat. I joined Sparks 11 1/2 yrs ago and never stopped. I got down to 186# and kept it off, but couldn't seem to get the rest off. I stopped drinking Coke-a-Cola and juice, which helped.
I'm 69 so I saw the Navy doctor who said "At your AGE, you can't expect to lose weight since you have Metabolic Syndrome." That was 2 yrs. ago. So, I had a blood sugar test that was 115 and he called me and said "You don't need to be on Metformin, since diabetes starts at 126." Well, I found an anti-aging doctor who is an endocrinologist and he said "He's right, diabetes starts at 126, but read the Metformin insert" and it said "If you might become a Type 2 diabetic, you can start the medicine now. So, I did , plus Armour Thyroid, (he says no one has the thyroid they had at 20 even at 30), Bydureon shot weekly, Acarbose with meals, Progesterone, (he says I don't want to take estrogen), Koncentrate K vitamin, Blood Pressure medicine (he says to stay on it as even at my goal weight, it will help my kidneys), and Phendimetrazine (diet pill). I'm down at 143# and no longer have night time cravings. i'm working to get the last 20# off.
I'd recommend finding a good doctor who understands obesity. Dr. Bernstein is a healthy 84 now even though he has had Type 1 diabetes since he was 12 and was told he wouldn't live past 42. At 42 he went to medical school to become a doctor since no one would listen to his research on diabetes as he was an engineer. He lives on a 30 carbs a day diet, and tells about his eating in the book. It certainly is "low carb". He says all women with PCOS need to be on Metformin.
