2020 Cravings are much reduced--must be all the sparkfriends support all these 11 years! Lost 19 lbs. BUT stalled now (Feb.)Water weight seems to be coming and going.

2020 Well, hubby is now in a nearby nursing home. After his stroke in 2006, he was at home with me and paid aides for about 14 years. I often have tears in my eyes at home, especially in the evenings and bedtime. I really miss him here. But for now this is best. He has been there since Thanksgiving 2018. We just had a meeting with him and the workers who have his case. The meeting went very well. He is adjusting. He has made a couple of friends even though he tends to be a loaner. He has social anxiety. I can visit often because he is only 5 min. away. We are both almost 72 now.
Having a cat at home has been a godsend for me. Sounds silly, but I can feel pretty calm with the cat on my lap or beside me (or on me) in bed. Cujo sticks by me wherever I happen to be.

OH NO! moving again. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. Surely moving from Connecticut back home to the Buffalo area would be my last move with hubby. NOPE! We did move to the Buffalo area from CT. Now I just moved us AGAIN to a condo still near Buffalo!

Well--I am now in a new condo-new to us anyway. We were renting in a very nice "independent living" apartment building.

Today,(Oct. 2018) I am sitting among many, many boxes of stuff to be put away. How on earth did this happen. And the worst of it is that my goal of placing hubby in a skilled nursing facility is NOT HAPPENING. I am having a very hard time getting him placed.

Please---See my blog for Oct. 9th, 2018.

See below for what I thought would be my last move FOREVER.Celebrating 1.5 year since our move. CT to NY state near Buffalo.
Hi, I'm Chris. Hubby and I moved! Now in Clarence , NY from Connecticut. We are now near most of my family. Yes, Buffalo, but I love the area. Plenty to do! And Buffalo is definitely having a revival. Lots of good vibes here. The condo is finally sold!

. Hubby and I were able to actually move to our new home. THANK YOU, MY MANY SPARKFRIENDS! I cannot imagine doing this huge task with our your support!

Our new place is in a wonderful independent senior complex. Good place for hubby to be much more independent in his motorized wheelchair.

Priorities now: new driver's license and reg DONE,just lately, doctors for both of us DONE, some medical tests I have put off too long DONE, taxes 2016 DONE, keep up with the bills when my papers are mixed up from the move ONGOING, in general get organized in a new home ONGOING. I want the storage place emptied so I can stop paying monthly for that. DD will take some. Donate some. Sell some, hopefully. ONGOING PROBLEM. Still paying Oct. 2016 till now! Bought a new (to me) handicap van. DONE . Need to arrange donating the old van. SOON.

Starting to again think of my long-time health goals.

The following goals were put on hold till I get more settled.
GET BACK TO MY WATER AEROBICS! DONE!!!!!! But most of the rest is still on hold.
-DVDs from the library to limit evening eating
-fantastic fiction.com
- daily fun music
- exercise dvds or wii fit
-interacting with friends and family

-Do I have fresh and frozen produce in the house?
-Do I have meals frozen for when I just can't get it together?
-Am I drinking my water?
-Am I getting to the pool often? No problem here!!!!
-Am I pacing myself so my energy lasts through the day?
-Am I breathing?
-Am I getting the extra help I need, even if I have to pay for it? I am a CAREGIVER since 2006 for DH.
-Am I planning fun into EVERYDAY?
Well--I Life has thrown me some surprises lately. I will keep trying to plan in fun non-the-less.
-Am I Eating at the Table?. Oh boy is this hard for me! I am still eating often at my computer. But
daily dinner is down in the big Dining Room. So, I at least eat dinner with friends at a perfectly set table. Excellent food. Just too much. And very unhealthy desserts!!!!!! : (

IF YOU KNOW A CAREGIVER----please read my blog
(OCTOBER 31, 2015) about 20 things you can do
for a caregiver--

I said.... for the caregiver!!! These are easy, quick things but will be amazingly appreciated!!!

Especially to Caregivers: Please, please take care of yourself. Pay for help if necessary. Save money in other ways. Use any government help available, whenever friends offer--in your mind have prepared a concrete "chore" they might do for you, like doing an errand, bringing in the trash can weekly (a neighbor does that for me!), or visiting your loved one while you do something else----for yourself. : )

Friends and family really do want to lighten your tasks! But they don't realize simple tasks help you tremendously. Don't be shy. You will soon know who really wants to help and who is giving "lip-service."

Help for caregivers:

I have been "almost there" weight-wise a few times in my life.. Then things happen , like hubby has a stroke in 2006. Recently I was "almost there" again. But can't yet.The plan was to live close to family for support. But..DD had major health/mental problems and finally had to live with us. In the 2 years with us she has made amazing progress! I am so proud of her.

But...my own goal continues to be as healthy as possible. Also the ever-present goal is to get some FUN into my life.

For a long time my "fun" has been on the computer. Duh..not exactly what I am craving! Water aerobics and the friends there is REAL FUN for me! Still, I am lacking enough social interaction. Mostly too tired to seek out these activities! : (

I am actively packing boxes and storing them in the garage for the big moving day, sometime late summer 2016. "They" have not even broken ground yet on our new duplex in a retirement community. When they do break ground and start building it will go fast. For now I am just getting the condo ready to sell. I am doing this mostly alone and with a little paid help and a little help from family. Yes, I need much more help. Paying for caregiver help breaks the budget already.... With God'd help the packing and moving will get done!

Life has thrown me some -more-curves since Nov. 2014. First shoulder replacement surgery then a water fall of heath problems of DH and DD. And I am organizing the condo to sell it for a move fall of 2015 nope--late summer of 2016--this year! OMG! How will this ever happen! It really is all "on me" with a little paid help for hubby caregiving and a little paid and family help doing condo chores for selling. After my surgery, DH developed diabetes and problems swallowing (stroke in 2006). So life has recently gotten very, very complicated around here!

But, I am definitely (finally!) making progress lessening fatigue, body pain, and food cravings. These have been life-long symptoms . Wish me luck. Evening Eating has been the biggest problem. Oh and if I would eat at the table-instead of at the computer or in front of the TV--well that would help greatly!

Dec. 2014. Finally after 6 years Sparking, I am staying below 250! Down 30 (finally 35 !) LBS. Update Dec. 2015: now staying about 239-242. : )

Making progress:
NO SNACKS! NO SECONDS! NO SWEETS! except for "S Days!"
This is really, really, really hard for me!

Eat G-BOMBS! Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries and Seeds ...for reducing body inflammation and pain from FM and now from knee arthritis. Dec. 2, 2014 shoulder replacement surgery for arthritis bone changes and resulting pain and loss of range of motion.

We can do this, Friends! I can do this!

You've come a long way, Baby!

Thank you so much for the goodie! It's so easy to get wrapped up in failures and expectations that we sometimes forget to be thankful for what we've managed to achieve. Thank you for reminding me.

Hey there ME AGAIN, just doing my weekly check in to see how it is going for you. I didn't have a great week but I am plugging along. Someone said I was losing weight so I will have to take their word for it. I haven't measured or weighed myself for awile. The nice weather is coming and I am sure that will be a pick me up for all of us. I know it will be for me for sure I hate feeling cold all the time. I just want to stay in and stay warm. Here is this weeks inspiration for us all. Teri1 Healthy Natural Supplements and Food Team. Have a great week.

    I wish I may, I wish I might
Lose one-half or a pound tonight.
If I happen to stay the same,
I'll be happy I did not gain.
If the scale goes the wrong way,
I'll brush myself off and say, That's okay--
Soon I'll come back a little thinner.
Because I have the power to be a winner!!! emoticon

I saw your post on the Western New Yorkers page, so I came to your spark page. You do have some challenges as a caretaker, no doubt. I am a social worker and when in college, we read a lot about "caregiver burden". It sounds as if you balance your life out with exercise which is an excellent endorphin booster. Do you have other family support too?
