Injured, overweight, out-of-shape, middle-aged, female seeks healthier, happier self. I know she's lurking around here somewhere. I've got goals, and I need her to come out of her hiding place and get back on track.

My Goals:
To walk normally again without assistance on uneven ground
To regain flexibility, especially in my left ankle, knee, and hip
To increase muscular strength
To improve cardiovascular endurance

Starting weight: 218 lbs., 33.2 BMI -- March 3, 2019
First target: 196 lbs., 29.9 BMI -- reached May 5 and again May 29
Second target: 164 lbs., 24.9 BMI -- target August 13
Third target: 140 lbs., 21.3 BMI -- target November 30

March 3, 2019 -- date of injury
March 15, 2019 -- surgery
March 26, 2019 -- first time up and moving, in a wheelchair
May 8, 2019 -- moved from wheelchair to a walker and from a cast to a CAM walker boot
May 13, 2019 -- returned to work
May 20, 2019 -- switched from a walker to crutches
May 24, 2019 -- started physical therapy
June 19, 2019 -- target date to move from CAM walker boot to ankle brace and from crutches to a cane


My Program:
-- Meditation for stress and pain management
-- Chair and bed exercise: yoga, stretching, cardio (maybe)
-- Body weight and free weight exercises

I live in Oregon, USA. My real name is Liz, but I answer to Darfinkle too. I work at a local college and take classes. I like to hike, write, take photos, and fold origami. My favorite places include the beach, rivers, and waterfalls.
