I have recently restarted this adventure as I have so many times before. I've wanted to lose weight for awhile but I never really " got into it". I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. Starting is hard, especially if you don't have anything to really drive you. So what was different this time? First, I ended up changing my birth control which actually had the unintended side effect of helping my depression. As time went by, something started happening. Things I used to love slowly started coming back to me. I wanted to go on a grand adventure. A hiking adventure. I started looking up blogs about hiking and then blogs about people hiking with their dogs. You will never ever see an unhappy dog on a trail. What really inspired me though, was an feel good story about a guy who lost a whole lot of weight ( 300 lbs I think it was!) By adopting an overweight dog from the shelter and together they walked everyday to lose the weight. I thought hey, I have two rescue pups. Sasha, my German Shepard mix and Jagger, my Pitt mix, and you know what? I bet they want to go on adventures. I mean look at how happy those other trail pups are! So I bought a split leash to walk them both at the same time and I can already tell the difference, not only just in me but in them as well. Dogs really do make great workout companions. I never made it with my weightloss goals before because it was never really that fun for me. Now I have found something that I can't wait to do everyday and that benifits all of us. Of course I want to lose weight for the obvious reasons but the biggest one of all, is being able to go on fantastic adventures with my best friends. You only have one life to live, make the best of it. My dogs will have short lives, but I will make sure that those days will be the best days of their lives because everyone deserves an adventure.
