My SparkPeople journey begins with the goal of transforming myself into the person I want to be through good health practices and personal growth goals. It is a holistic change - mind, body, spirit. It will be a transformation of who I am as well as the way I look. This journey will be one of self love.

4/23 - I have learned so much from Spark People. I am grateful for all who contribute in anyway. I thrive because of all the sharing that goes on.

I plan to expand my SparkPage. I want it to be meaningful to all who visit. Right now it is not. I plan to model mine after Karvy09's SparkPage with my own goals and achievements. It will take a while for me to build it.

Since joining SP on March 1st my motivation has changed. I was almost competitive in my motivation. I wanted to prove that I could reach my set goals to show off to others. Now I have grown as a person. I realize that I have goals to achieve and in my achieving them I am creating a healthy life for me. It is all about me having a healthy life not about meeting a goal that once attained will leave me empty. I have to reach goals set to get to continuous good health and the goals are just guideposts. There always needs to be some guideposts. I think this is a breakthough in thinking for me.

My Goals:
These are my long term goals:

- To become a healthy person physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually with a goal of reaching 150 pounds by November 2011.

-To make good health a way of life for me through good nutrition practices, proper exercise and general self-care.

- To identify and find a career that will give me challenges but yet provide me the opportunity to live a balanced lifestyle.

- To be able to share my journey to benefit others.


My Program:
I need to lose about 110 pounds to reach 150lbs. To meet these goals I am:

Participating daily in SP.

Exercising to burn at least 1800 calries per week.

Measuring progress through body measurements and self assessment.

Listening daily to motivational music .

Keeping a wall calendar of daily achievement of nutrition and exercise commitments.

Reviewing a vision collage that allows me to see how I will look once I reach my goal weight and how my life will change (career, relationships, age perception, etc.)



Personal Information:

My name is Ellen.

I am from Boston but have been spending winters in Florida (which I love). I am thinking of staying here all year in order to focus on my health program. It seems easier down here.

I am widow (10 yrs) and loved being married. I would love to have another strong marriage or companion, if destiny allows.

This is an excited group of folks and really active team so you should be able to find all sorts of inspiration and motivation. Just jump right in. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. There's always someone willing to help in any way possible. Don't forget to use the food/water tracker that spark people provides as well as the fitness tracker. These are excellent resources that will help keep you on the path you've chosen. Come on... let's get healthy TOGETHER!!! Together WE can do anything!     Thank you so much for your encouragement! I always tell my husband if I could just go away and be by myself I could lose the weight a little more easily. That obviously is not reality. I have not been out of the house in a very long time. Only to take the kids to an appointment or something. I need to make time for myself and get serious about my health. I have been through 2 other programs in the past (after pregnancies) and my weight has always gone up and done. I need to learn to eat like a human...I came from a family where you had to eat everything on your plate and I think that has stuck with me. Thank you again and I hope to hear from you soon!
