I don’t want to be the “funny fat chick with the pretty face”, anymore. After losing my job that I never intended to be a career, of 17 years, I was gifted with vertigo (almost 3 years ago). Vertigo has left me homebound or at least there is a lot of consideration that goes into a simple 3 minute car ride (as I cannot drive anymore) but it also made me take stock of my real goals and what and who is important to me. Most of my findings have been very surprising and positive.

It is going to be an uphill battle but I'm READY

My Goals:
1. Lose 100 pounds
2. Going back to a vegetarian/vegan life style
3. Recommit to healthy choices... including Quit Smoking
4. Create something EVERYDAY (a new recipe, craft, painting, essay etc.)
5. Meditate everyday

My Program:
1. Sought the advice of a nutritionist and my doctor
2. vegetarian/vegan life style reboot started as follows:
60% vegetarian/vegan in October 2015
70% vegetarian/vegan in November 2015
80% vegetarian/vegan in December 2015
100% vegetarian/vegan in December 2015/January 2016
3. I stopped smoking for approx. 15 days in November and again in December. I smoked about 4 packs of cigarettes in January. Currently I am journaling my reason for each cigarette BEFORE I smoke it. This helps greatly and was one of many suggestions made in the book QUIT. It’s a process that I was successful with (for almost 4 years) and I’d very much like to QUIT again and this time, do it forever.
4. I am an artist/cook that just happened to work in the legal field for 17 years. Painting, writing and cooking are things that I control, they help me focus and bring happiness as I deal with some health constraints that leave me homebound.

Dr. Sheila Kar cardiologist of Cedars Sinai Medical said that she tells her patients:

“You have a choice between eating healthy and living a normal lifestyle or me giving you more poisons to counteract that poison you just had.”

I do and will continue to remember this statement every time I eat!

    Although I'm relatively new to SparkPeople I wanted to say to my new spark family, that after finally getting around to reading posts and checking out the communities, that you are all an inspiration :-)

    In reading your post I learned that I could track my weight with the cute little Track Bar at the end of my post. Thank you. I've learned today how to track my moods. Thank you. I've also learned that I can track my medical emoticon (vertigo) episodes. Thank you.

    The idea of posting about something that is so personal… that I've struggled with for so long and now I must do so with the medical condition... It seemed like a daunting task. I've learned from you that all things are open to discussion and that there will be support.

    And because of your inspiration I am going to do my best to become a more active and involved member . emoticon
