I didn’t feel the earthquake this morning! I was busy seeing my husband, son, and grandson off on their drive up to Grandfather Mountain. They were checking out a piece of land for sale. Matt (son) isn’t buying that land, but they stopped nearby in Pineola, where my mother’s mother is from. There’s a whole bunch of Thompsons and Hayes buried in the Presbyterian church’s cemetery.

No evening walks here - the way the humidity has been, the only good time is early in the morning. In the evening, even though it's a few degrees cooler, it's still a sauna. I'm glad your birds are back!

Thanks, Judy. I printed out the recipe for the baked oatmeal. I’ll have to try it. I wonder if I could use tapioca flour instead of eggs and bananas or applesauce. Oh, pumpkin would be good instead of bananas or applesauce.

We’re finally out of drought. I knew the summers were hot and humid, but this is the first summer in 12 years that we’ve had normal weather. I’m not a fan of the humidity. When the air is as dry as yours the rain clouds can’t rain. We would be surrounded by storms and have blue sky above us during the worst of the drought.

I find getting enough sleep really does help me manage pain better. I have chronic sartorius muscle strain that’s acting up right now. Sometimes going to bed is like being sent to the torture chamber!

It was a quiet 4th with Alex. Usually on the 4th our guys go down to Monroe’s Main Street plaza and watch the fireworks from there. They did have fireworks, but we all stayed home this year. Alex stayed here overnight on Friday, went home Saturday night and came back this morning. I’m not sure there’s any schedule. We’re sure to see him again on Wednesday.
