Hi, Emme! Thanks for your comment on my blog!
As far as dance... I guess it depends on HOW you prefer to dance. I personally prefer dance that does not require a partner so I can do it anywhere. Naturally, tap and ballet are good for that, but I'm also a bellydancer and have taken pole dance classes in the past. (Forget the stereotypes - that is a HARD workout!) I've also taken up hooping/hoopdance, which is a whole other series of challenges. I hear Zumba is a lot of fun, too - and that borrows a LOT of moves from the Latin dances.
I have also taken ballroom (cha-cha, rumba, swing, tango, waltz, among others) and salsa dance lessons, and those are great for getting active and being social/meeting new people. I made a lot of great, fun friends at studio dance socials and salsa nights at local restaurants, and I absolutely love salsa music - such a mood-lifter!
So I guess the best answer to your question would be to try things and see what works best for your preferences and personality. Warning: once you start dancing, you're going to get hooked and want to dance ALL THE DANCES. :)
Good luck to you! Whatever you wind up choosing, keep me posted on how you do!
