What do you get when you cross a BAMF & a MILF?
ME! Muhahahaha!
''Life''s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, ''Holy sh*t... What a ride!''
When I made my first SparkPeople profile in 2003, I'd lost 60lbs and was training to walk a half-marathon. 6 years later, all the weight was back on and then some, and I decided I was tired of being simply tired of it - and having shed the bad marriage, toxic friends and ...

When I made my first SparkPeople profile in 2003, I'd lost 60lbs and was training to walk a half-marathon. 6 years later, all the weight was back on and then some, and I decided I was tired of being simply tired of it - and having shed the bad marriage, toxic friends and spirit-crushing responsibilities, and with the support of my mate and my family (and my Sparkfriends), I decided it's time to really DO this!
UPDATE (2/23/2020) - Lots of life changes! I just started working for Equitas Health, and one of my roles is RN Care Coordinator. Which means I will be teaching patients how to manage chronic conditions like Diabetes. What better motivator to get my own under control and be a peer mentor? Hoping to set up group training and nutrition teams to help motivate my patients, maybe even do some group events like working towards the Columbus Marathon in October! Plus, no more 12 hour shifts, which means getting eating and exercise under control is a lot easier. Let's do this!!
UPDATE (9/9/2016) - So it's official, nursing school is hazardous to your health! I did great and had lost 30lbs before starting back to school, but it ALMOST all found it's way back by the time I graduated in December of 2016 (I haven't made it all the way to 250, but I've been close). But now that I'm an RN (and working on my BSN), it's time to take control and get my health back! Working 12 hour shifts in a hospital is brutal, and in order to take the best care of my patients I need to be sure I'm taking the best care of ME! Officially back in the saddle baabee!!!
UPDATE (12/18/2014) Hard to revisit all of the achievements I made before, having gained nearly (but not all) of the weight back due to the stress and craziness of nursing school. I only had 2 semesters left, and then started having odd "spells" - went to my doctor and was diagnosed with high blood pressure and Type 2 Diabetes. There was NO way to reduce my load and work on my health, so I withdrew from classes in October to focus on getting my health back. The plan is for me to resume classes in May, which will push my graduation date back to January of 2016. A disappointment for sure, but I WILL DO THIS! I consider myself "in training" to go back to school, and have already lost 22 pounds - my doctor is thrilled! So here's to a healthier lifestyle that I can model to my patients - if *I* can do this, so can they!

My Program:
Primarily trying to watch portion sizes and eat a healthy low carb diet, incorporating as much organic and/or locally grown foods as possible.
Being ACTIVE - utilizing the gym, walking in my neighborhood, and finding fun ACTIVE activities to enjoy with my mate and my kids.
Personal Information:
Doula, wannabe-midwife, Qadishtu, Priestess of Venus and Vulcan. Completely bisexual, utterly polyamorous - I just love.
---------------------
Granny Wendy: So Peter, your adventures are over.
Peter Banning: Oh, no. To live... to live would be an awfully big adventure.
- Final lines from the movie "Hook"
-----------------------
From the movie "Parenthood" 1989:
[Gil has been complaining about his complicated life; Grandma wanders into the room]
Grandma: You know, when I was nineteen, Grandpa took me on a roller coaster.
Gil: Oh?
Grandma: Up, down, up, down. Oh, what a ride!
Gil: [sarcastically] What a great story.
Grandma: I always wanted to go again. You know, it was just so interesting to me that a ride could make me so frightened, so scared, so sick, so excited, and so thrilled all together! Some didn't like it. They went on the merry-go-round. That just goes around. Nothing. I like the roller coaster. You get more out of it.
