Hi and Welcome,

My name is Maria and I am currently residing in Northern Florida with my husband and four legged kids.

I have struggled with my weight it seems for most of my adult life. I am athletic but have been plagued with many injuries (5 knee and 2 major foot/ankle surgeries, 2 low back surgeries). I enjoy swimming, cycling, walking/jogging, incline training and weight training. I have completed several sprint distance triathlons and one mile open water swim competitions, as well as 5k's, 10k's, and a 13k.

You would think by being so active, controlling my weight would not be an issue......WRONG!! My metabolism is abnormally slow (had it tested many years ago).

I need something to motivate me and I am so tired of doing the same old routine. I am tired of setting goals that do not get achieved.....Tired of making excuses.....Tired of feeling tired, feeling uncomfortable and just feeling blah!

I've been here before, on Sparkpeople back in 2008. My time here was short and when i left I didn't look back. Fast forward to almost 6 years later and here I sit 60 lbs. overweight!

I had back surgery in Aug 2010 and a low back double spinal fusion in 2011. Since March 2011 I have gained 30lbs ! All the toned up muscle I had from racing in 2009 is just mush. None of my clothes fit. I have basically become a hermit, just hiding in my house because I don't want anyone to see me. I am ashamed of what I have become..... My worse nightmare

When I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror the other day, I just about died. I couldn't believe what I saw. It just couldn't be me.....but it was. Something snapped and I said....NO MORE! This can't go on!!

I started searching the internet for support groups and what pops up? SparkPeople. I remembered the site, was actually able to sign in with my password, which I took as a sign to get started.

I am happy to be here and look forward to what lies ahead. I know it won't be easy, but one step at a time, one day at time, will get me to my goal :) Good luck to all of us!

Mid-Range Goal: Is to drop 20 lbs in 3 months
(Target is November 12, 2015)

Short Range Goal: To try and lose 1 -2 pounds a week.

Track my food daily

Jeff Galloway's run-walk-run program 3 -4 x's a week

Weight Train 2x's week

Read a daily devotional

And remember, we all have our bad days, just dust the dirt off and get back on track!

I believe if we put our minds to it we can achieve anything we want in life. I live by the motto "Live 2 win by facing your fears". Losing weight can be a fearful event for many. Rewarding but also fear of letting go of your past.

    I am struggling so hard and like your comment about starting out again taking baby steps. I go so good for a few weeks and then the bottom drops out again, Yuk... emoticon
