I agree, I like the Fuji, and Gala apples, but they are usually the $3.89 per pound apples, cause they are the big sellers, Red Delicious are the ones here that are .99 a pound and I refuse to eat them, always taste bitter to me. And yes, I bet somewhere along the line the Govt. is involved. They have their fingers in every thing.

Hail, is always something that you dread to here could be coming your way. Usually we have started harvest by now, but not this year. Tomorrow is my birthday and I can't remember the last time hubby and I could do something on my birthday. He is always is the field and I am home alone all day by myself. Maybe I will make hubby take me out to supper tomorrow night. We even have a gift certificate to use, so it won't cost a thing. Lucky Him. Right. We haven't been out to a restaurant I bet for a couple of years. Hubby always says that we have better food at home, that is probably right, but it's just a different atmosphere. Hope you have a save harvest and a bin buster. We got over an inch of rain Mon. and into Tues. so it is still wet here to even think about it yet.

Oh, happy, happy, there is someone else out here that is actually a farmers wife. So thrilling, I came here immediately to add you to my friend list. It takes a farm wife or farmer to understand. We also have corn and beans, we had a terrible dry summer, and they both suffered, with the corn taking for worst hit. Some guys are just cutting it for silage, if they have livestock, some have had there yields check and have heard as low as 38 bushels per acre. Beans are coming along real well, we haven't start harvest yet, ours aren't ready, but there is some around us that are out there, but not the last couple of days, we have gotten rain. WE use to have cow/calf herd, but with rented pasture, and they wouldn't fix the fences, and she was in her 90's. we sold out. We were always getting calls that they were out, so really I am glad they are gone. But now we rely on BIL to get a steer to butcher. Oh, I could go on and on, I am just so thrilled to have some else that knows what I am talking about. Oh, by the way I live in NW Iowa, so not that far away. Please fill feel free to add me to your list if you want. Linda
