I'm just an average college student trying to eat and live healthier during a time when doing so can be difficult.

--I've recently decided (after only a teensy bit of consideration (; ) that I am so DONE with being the FAT girl!--

When I was really young, I was skinny and adorable- not that I cared! However, moving between my mom's and dad's houses didn't give me the most stable environment growing up: especially because my dad cooks for a living and thus doesn't want to do it when he gets home! I was practically raised on take out, fast food, and frozen processed foods.

Ever since I hit puberty I've been struggling to control my weight. For a while in junior high I managed to trim down to a size 6/8(with LOTS of help from my mom, my number one supporter) but I still couldn't run a mile! High school initiated some dramatic changes and it's been an uphill (scale) climb since then. I'd really like to reverse that!

Now that I am going into my junior year of college, I want to be the fittest, healthiest me I can be. These are the best years of my life and I want to start treating them that way! I am tired of hiding behind my clothes: I'm ready to show off! I'm tired of being ashamed of my body: I'm ready to let the real me out! I am so ready to be the happy-go-lucky girl I've got living inside me and I am PARTICULARLY ready to be DONE!

My Goals:
**I just read an article ("The 10% Solution" in my article faves) about weight loss and perceived failure. It said that most people set so high a weight-loss goal that they are disappointed by achieving anything LESS, regardless of how AWESOME that achievement is. So I've decided to set my first mini-goal at losing 10% of my original weight, which equates to 21.4 lbs. Once I've accomplished that, I will re-evaluate my weight and re-equate my goals. :] I want to be proud of EACH accomplishment I make, not JUST the big one!**

My Program:
As of right now, I am trying to re-educate myself about food. I am paying attention to nutrition labels and developing a comparison mentality. I'm working to make smarter eating decisions and regulate portion size. I don't exercise as much as I should but I am looking for a work-out buddy to help motivate me. :D

Personal Information:
I've been living in Alabama for the past seven years. It's as close to home as I've got, but I'm still a Yankee at heart. (Maryland girl, born and bred!)

Other Information:
I'm kind of a bookworm, which has aided in my avoidance of outdoor activities. I love reading and escaping into fantasy worlds because they're so much more interesting than my real life!
