Jan 2011 - The seventeenth of this month marks FOUR years on my journey to a healthier new me!! I am still not exactly where I want to be, but I am so far from where I was!! Yeah for me!! I have made a lot of friends on this journey and I am very thankful for them. I still battle with total commitment, but this battle I plan to win also. My children are growing so fast, and I want them to learn to be the best, and most healthy version of themselvs as they can be!! My first entry on this intoduction my children were sooo litlle! My youngest is no longer in the "trying twos", and I homeschool all three of them now. Life's challenges are still there, but we meet them each day with a new energy. My goal for this year is that EVERYONE in my family will learn more about healthy eating, and share more of this journey with me. Happy New Year to you all!!! Sharon

January 2009 (Update)
Happy New Year to all!!! My weight loss journey started two years ago... January 2007. It has been a road of ups and downs, and successes and failures. God has taught me a lot about who I am!!! 2009 will be the year that I will set my new life style in stone! Clean eating and exercise will be a permanent part of my vocabulary!! This has been a marvelous journey with all my new friends on SP, and I am glad to have met you all!! I am looking forward to forging ahead and making even more improvements this year!!! I have resolved to complete and entire 12 week boot camp (without stopping and starting, LOL!!). I would like to hit my goal and stay there for the rest of the year!!! I have resolved to get back to goal by February and spend the next eleven months learning how to stay there!!!! I make too many excuses to indulge myself!!! My health is more important than the "treats" I like to reward myself with. My new "treat" is to "treat" myself right!!!! Blessings to you all!!!

May 2008 - UPDATE
Wow, where do I start!!! This has been such an amazing journey. I have lost, gained, relost, and I am finally winning the battle. I have learned so much about myself along the way. I never knew that weight loss could be such a journey of self-discovery. I have learned that I control my food, and my food does not control me. There are still weak days when I let the food have control over me. Those are the days that I have to lean on the Lord the most. All things are possible through Jesus Christ, and without him this would not have been possible. He says that we are a new creation in him, and this last 15 months I have felt like the caterpillar that has finally come out of the cacoon and I have turned into the butterfly the Lord meant me to be. He has not only changed my body, but he has healed my heart. I have learned to lean on him, not the food!!!!! I have hit the 50 Pound mark today, and I am only 11 pounds from my final goal!!! I am so blessed!!! My family has been so wonderful and so supportive!!! My husband and my best friend have been amazing through the days of laughter and the days of tears!!! I am finally able to physically keep up with the things my kids should have been able to do before. We go hiking in the state trails, we go canoeing (and yes I have to paddle also), I can run, and play kick ball or softball!! I can climb trees again with my babies (Or rescue my now 3yo son out of the trees)!!!!! I can go to amusement parks and not want to just sit on a bench and watch!! I can walk the whole day!!! I feel such freedom and liberty, and I no longer battle blood sugar or DEPRESSION!!!! To be Healthy is the biggest blessing on earth!!!!!! I know now that I DESERVE to be healthy!!!!!! Hi! My name is Sharon. I am a mother of three beautiful children and the wife to one amazing man. I homeschool my two oldest daugters and my son is "two" year old in the truest sense!!
This weightloss journey has been different for me than any "other time" I have tried to lose weight. I have borderline high blood sugar and have spent the last two years in denial, and much to my dismay putting on 25lbs. I lost my father 15 months ago and I discovered that I am a stress/emotional eater also.
I however got a scare in a dentist office when I sawa nice lady who was battling diabetes and would certainly lose her feet. I have seen many diabetics battle limb issues, neuropathy and sight loss, but this for some reason was different this time. It gave me a new reason to be serious about me. I have spent so much time caring for my family, I forgot about me. Two days later, I started my new lifestyle change and I am not stopping. This is a lifetime road and no more pit stops!!! I hope to meet many new people like me along this road we are all sharing now!!! God Bless!!!!

My Goals:
My basic goal is to be HEALTHY!!! I originally started out to control my blood sugar and the weight loss was somewhat secondary!! Now, my sugar is great and I am enjoying being I want to be at a "normal" weight, not overweight according to the "great" BMI scale!!!

My Program:
Generally I try to follow a moderate carb controlled diet. I don't eat processed food, and I stay away from additives of any kind. I eat whole food. Healthy meats, lots of veggies, fruits, very small amounts of low-carb WHOLE grains!!!! (My favorite bread is by Sami's Bakery out of Tampa, FL and you can order it online!!)

And I'm the HAPPIEST pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.
Want to know why?
It's because no one ever wants to lose me;
I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!
Everyone wants to lose 3 pounds, 5 pounds, or 15 pounds, but never only 1.
So I just stick around and happily keep you fat.
Then I add to myself, every so slyly,
so that you never seem to notice it.
That is, until I've grown to 10, 20, 30 or
even more pounds in weight.
Yes, it is FUN being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT,
Left to do as I please.
So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying,
"Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were
such a terrible thing.)
For you see, if you do this, you encourage others to keep me around because they will think I'm just not worth the effort.
