I am in SE WI right on the IL line. We do not have it here now, but we did very close to home last year. They lost 4 horses and I believe were in quarantine for 3-4 months. it was very expensive all the measures they had to do.

think about farriers, vets, feed delivery, manure removal... it can be spread on truck tires.

I am for sure having trouble getting back into it post-injury. Not because I don't still love my activities, but because I've liked having the extra time to do other (non-active) things. Plus, the smallest twinge is enough to make me nervous and excuse not working out *sigh*

Best bet? Get back to what you love and then move more into other workings :)

Thank you for the kind comments on my blog. The trainer was Casey Deary.
Patterns were good. I rode in six classes over two days. Patterns were 4, 6 and 8 on both days. We had some bobbles on lead changes, which she has decided recently she would be a total sh!t about executing immediately, causing us to lose some points. I learned a lot about my mare, who clearly still remembers her days of reining show glory and really turns on a few extra gears at the show that are non existent in the practice ring! Definitely making me and my trainer reconsider our practice regimen which until recently focused on me driving her forward... to one where I keep her in check -- tough when we can't recreate that same energy level in the practice arena, but I'm up for the challenge!

The parade was a bit of last minute fun! My trainer convinced me to ride in it 3 hours before it started, but I was so proud of how much of a steady-eddy my mare was -- better behaved than multi-parade veterans even! I hear you on the kids -- so many little girls mesmerized by the horses -- really brought a smile to my face because I used to be that little girl emoticon emoticon emoticon

Have you been able to ride much lately? Got any show plans for this year?

Check it out!! The girls who are running it are so down to earth and really do have me wanting to get fit for me and nothing else.
