I have been using SparkPeople on and off for years. Oddly enough, the times I have felt the best were during the on times! I am not far from my 'goal' weight, but I am more interested in feeling better, healthier and happier regardless of what my scale says.

A bit more about me...

I was always skinny when I was younger. I had the best metabolism ever. I ate anything and everything I wanted, my friends even called me the garbage disposal. It was great since I totally love food (cooking and eating!). When I got ready to join the Army after I graduated HS in 2001, I was actually under their weight standards and had to gain weight before I joined. When I got out in 2006, I was over their weight standards. So what changed? Most importantly, my metabolism. It slowed big time and I just kept eating the same stuff (like a half dozen donuts for breakfast... ). There was also the trouble that I couldn't cook because I lived in the barracks (well up until the last year when I got married... but my husband got deployed and cooking for 1 is not fun). I had to eat out a lot and that was for sure a factor.

When I got out of the Army, I was at my heaviest ever - 148. Considering I am only 5'1, that weight shows. I hovered around this weight for a long time before deciding to actually do something about it. I attempted Spark previously, but I had zero motivation. I spent most of my time in front of the computer playing games and so my weight didn't really bother me. Once I started doing more outside the house or getting dressed up (and realizing nothing fit right). I came back to Spark. I have all the motivation in the world because I want to feel good about myself again. I know I am a great person, but I want the outside to reflect that much better than it does right now.
