Welcome to my spark page! I joined SparkPeople in January 2008. When I started this journey, I fully expected another failure. After all, I'd been down this road before. But what I wasn't expecting was to meet so many great people and have so many invaluable resources.

I had misconceptions about, diet, name it! Over the course of the past three years I have learned to appreciate food without overdoing it, I've learned to love exercise, and I've gained incredible knowledge of all things health-related. And I just can't get enough!

My first goal was to lose 10 pounds. I figured anyone could lose 10 pounds. After I achieved that goal, I started exercising. I bought 2 workout videos to do at home. I barely made it through the first one. My head was pounding, my face was red, and honestly, I felt terrible. But I kept at it. Now I look forward to exercising. I've learned step aerobics, kickboxing, weight training, and more! In 2009 I started running and I've now got a couple of half marathons under my belt! If you're still reading this, I encourage you to challenge yourself continually. Start small, but keep at it! You can do it!

My Goals:
Get those last few pounds off and learn the art of maintenance! Also, learn to really love my body. It's been so good to me.

My Program:
I lost 125 pounds in 3 years with spark people. I'm still learning to balance nutrition and fitness. I plan to fight the good fight each day of my life. I will never return to my nearly 300 pound self!

    haha! actually not sure i can remember the knots :-( i'd have to practice...but i guess Valentines Day is around the corner....
    as for adventures... YES PLEASE!!!
    i was actually thinking about a girls weekend at this B&B down south of st louis. like a fit n active weekend in a cabin. Hiking Taum Sauk Mt, biking, spa night... whatever we want but all for a healthy getaway. thoughts??

    Howdy stranger. It sounds like you are doing great! I am so happy with your movement to whole foods! And going rock climbing--I've done it a couple of times (years ago and at 280 pounds!). I've been wanting to try it again. Where did you go?

    Things are good for me, although a little unmotivated to be on SP. I'm not sure why that is. But I'm getting hella good at 'acting as if', so no worries!

    I don't suppose you're in town and up for coffee this Saturday?

    Hi Jamie....I'm still here. I retired last year and I'm loving retirement life. Spending some time with our grandson (he's two years old now) and getting into some of the hobbies that I never had time for. I'm struggling really bad with my weight. I was told I'm pre-diabetic. I know EXACTLY what I need to do and I will do great for 1-2 weeks and then BOOM, I go bad and then I can't get back on track. I wish I knew why I sabotage myself that way. I could write a book on the dos and don'ts of weight loss but I can't get my own brain wrapped around it. Any suggestions?

    You look so good. I'm so proud of you and you've come a long way baby!!

    Hey Jamie! Thanks for the goodie 2-shoes! Ha! I'm loving that I can walk with just tennis shoes on. I sure am slow though! I guess that will improve day by day. It's just the beginning of day 2. I've been thinking about how far it is to the stationary bike and weight room from the Rec Plex parking lot and just that thought exhausts me! Getting to the pool would be much worse! I'll try not to get ahead of myself, and see what next week brings. I'm thinking I should start with nutrition and do some Spark videos at home. There is a good chair cardio and lots of upper body ST. I'll have to see how things go. Got to get in the right mental mindset.

    I'm loving the sunshine on this beautiful Saturday morning. I'm taking my knee walker back to Medical West today. Then maybe I'll attempt the stairs and do a load of laundry! Have a good weekend!
