In the past 7 years I have gone from being absolutely huge to losing over 260 lbs and having a weekly spot on a local Nevada Morning Show called "Body by Brenda". (I lost the weight primarily by cutting out refined carbs like sugar & white flour & adhering to the low glycemic index + cardio and strength training 4 to 5X a week) I was also in a couple commercials including one as a spokesperson for a Weight Loss Program. {Though I still have lots of friends out "Vegas way" you couldn't pay me enough money to go back to that side of the country at my current weight and condition... I couldn't bear (or is it bare? hmmmm...) the humiliation and embarrasment!} UPDATE: Since I originally wrote this my son was on the A&E weight-loss reality show "Heavy" (original air date 3/28/11) & has lost 200 lbs. I visited and was filmed and still huge and with mobility issues & health complications. Quite frankly it was pretty rough being exposed at such a heavy weight and & resulting complications of gaining so much weight back as well, on National TV. But I have survived and in the face of fight or flight, I have decided to fight my way back to a healthier better quality of life!) I am trying to get on season 2 of A&E's Heavy (My son recently lost 200 lbs on season 1 & still going strong.) Please help me out by clicking on "like" & make a comment at: facebook.com/BrendaCurtiss4Season2ofHEAVYf

I never dreamed I would be anywhere near this fat again! But almost 3 years after leaving a dark, abusive marriage, I have gained back over 200 lbs and am in very poor health as a result. Losing so much weight & then gaining so much back inside of 6 years has wreaked havock on my health! (Massive gain back from eating fast food and all the wrong things for way too long and not working out... which I have found to be the prescription for disease!) I am on a mission now to get healthy and fit again! (And this time to get ALL the way to my goal weight and stay there!)

Mission 12-1: Get my health, energy & mobility back! And, with God's help and the community here I know I will run the race all the way to my goal weight and fitness. One day at a time, one decision at a time, I am committed to living and I know if I stay on the path I have been on prior... it will kill me. Pretty strong motivation! So, like I said... I am on a mission for my health & I will succeed. I am not depressed... I am energized because I am on the track and taking the steps and I will run this race even when it is tedious and tough. My health matters, my quality of life matters... I matter... I will try to be a blessing and encourager to my fellow runners. Thanks for welcoming me here.

Blessings for Your Journey, Brenda

Hi! I have been in NC at Grandma Jodean's summer place in the mountains place for the past week and a half! They went to Washington (state) for 3 weeks and invited us to use their place in NC. So - we had a free vacation!!!

Just returned late Thursday night. I have lost 8 lbs.!!! YEA!!! I am losing slowly, but I am thrilled to be losing period. Haven't cheated a single time, even during our NC trip - so I am very "into" it.

I am feeling better in general. Eating low-carb is very good for my energy levels and overall health.

How are you doing? I had a missed call from you yesterday, but I didn't even see it until late last night.

Hopefully we can talk sometime over the weekend. I am quite busy as J.Jay is preparing for a youth mission trip, he is leaving after church tomorrow. So, today we are preparing for that. I have to send lots of food and extra stuff for him, for his Celiac.

    Love you lots!
Li'l sis (soon I really WILL be little!!!)

    Hi Brenda!!

I am glad you found me, 'cause I couldn't find you and didn't know if you had a page yet or not.

I like Sparks a great deal, I just have to be careful not to spend too much time (that I don't have to spend) on it as I could easily become addicted!! It definitely helps me stay on track. I track my food, my water, and my working out!

I just updated my blog, so read when you get a chance. :) I put some pictures of the kiddos on there too!

How are you doing? I've lost 5 lbs. on Atkins since I started last Saturday. Today is Day 8. YEA!!!! I will now only lose slowly, like probably around 1 lb. per week. But that works for me. As long as I am losing. I can very clearly see the light at the end of the tunnel and I am in it for the long haul!

Call me when you can. Love you lots!
