In the past 7 years I have gone from being absolutely huge to losing over 260 lbs and having a weekly spot on a local Nevada Morning Show called "Body by Brenda". (I lost the weight primarily by cutting out refined carbs like sugar & white flour & adhering to the low glycemic index + cardio and strength training 4 to 5X a week) I was also in a couple commercials including one as a spokesperson for a Weight Loss Program. {Though I still have lots of friends out "Vegas way" you couldn't pay me enough money to go back to that side of the country at my current weight and condition... I couldn't bear (or is it bare? hmmmm...) the humiliation and embarrasment!} UPDATE: Since I originally wrote this my son was on the A&E weight-loss reality show "Heavy" (original air date 3/28/11) & has lost 200 lbs. I visited and was filmed and still huge and with mobility issues & health complications. Quite frankly it was pretty rough being exposed at such a heavy weight and & resulting complications of gaining so much weight back as well, on National TV. But I have survived and in the face of fight or flight, I have decided to fight my way back to a healthier better quality of life!) I am trying to get on season 2 of A&E's Heavy (My son recently lost 200 lbs on season 1 & still going strong.) Please help me out by clicking on "like" & make a comment at: facebook.com/BrendaCurtiss4Season2ofHEAVYf

I never dreamed I would be anywhere near this fat again! But almost 3 years after leaving a dark, abusive marriage, I have gained back over 200 lbs and am in very poor health as a result. Losing so much weight & then gaining so much back inside of 6 years has wreaked havock on my health! (Massive gain back from eating fast food and all the wrong things for way too long and not working out... which I have found to be the prescription for disease!) I am on a mission now to get healthy and fit again! (And this time to get ALL the way to my goal weight and stay there!)

Mission 12-1: Get my health, energy & mobility back! And, with God's help and the community here I know I will run the race all the way to my goal weight and fitness. One day at a time, one decision at a time, I am committed to living and I know if I stay on the path I have been on prior... it will kill me. Pretty strong motivation! So, like I said... I am on a mission for my health & I will succeed. I am not depressed... I am energized because I am on the track and taking the steps and I will run this race even when it is tedious and tough. My health matters, my quality of life matters... I matter... I will try to be a blessing and encourager to my fellow runners. Thanks for welcoming me here.

Blessings for Your Journey, Brenda

We have a journey we are on, so we know the only way we are going to get there is with a lot of grace, mercy, & direction from the One who has set this path before us!

When I saw your SparkName I believe God brought to mind this incredible song that could very well be a theme song for your journey & for any of ours for sure! Here are some of the lyrics:

I will run the race set before me
I will seek Your face as the prize of my life

I will run, I will run
    All I want is You
    All I crave is You

The song is called "I Will Run" by a singer/songwriter named Misty Edwards, who is originally from Texas where I live.

Misty was singing this song live at an event called "The Call" in Las Vegas. It will be worth your time to give a listen! It is quite stirring & motivating!

I truly believe God "sent" this song to me tonight to share with you! Would you like to hear it...& see it sung? Try going to this site:

Just keep going, no matter how long it takes.

Reading "SHRINK YOURSELF" by ROGER GOULD, M.D. has really helped me, because he says we turn to food from all the commericals and happiness is connected with EATING (parties, dancing, cook-outs, etc.) and we have such a connection. I have gotten so much out of understanding how to deal with emotional eating, that I'm really confident now that I will get slim again and STAY there.

Don't quit. You can do this. emoticon
