1-2-17 I'm way over due to update this intro! I was mentioning back few years ago, that I was hoping things would change in regards to working 2 part time jobs. It did! In a year after writing that I was hired full-time at the library becoming a Library Specialist! This has also been a major adjustment working in daily exercising. :( I've also had a few injuries or strains to different parts of my body. Getting older doesn't make it easier. So I've been doing a lot of physical therapy as a result. This is actually helping motivate me to work in some daily exercising, simple because I have to in order to fix my daily pains. I haven't made my weight goal but I have been very good at maintaining my weight. It's better than gaining!

6-28-13 It's time I updated this intro! Many things have changed over the past year with SparkPeople. I lost around 30 lbs, and did gain back 5 of it. Part of the reason I gained some weight is because I have 2 part jobs both are on-call. Hopefully that is going to change in the next few months also. I can also say I'm a library clerk now. It's been a challenge fitting in exercise time while working. Some days I'm just too tired to fit it in.

I still dabble making jewelry, beads and now knitting whatever looks like fun to knit. And yes I still play video games. :)

As for being able to go on hikes now. Yes, I can do that with out getting so horribly winded on an easy hike. I have other issues I've ignored that making hiking still a little bit of a challenge. I have a bad bunion on my right foot and my left ankle seems to be perpetually sprained/strained, my left knee is sore more of the time also. I think it's my age and inheriting the fun joint issues creeping in. I just have to take a little easier than I did in my 20's. ;)

10/11 "I'm a beginning jewelry artist...such a big thing to say but remember the beginning part. (I'm still learning.) I'm a animal lover, bookworm, even an old fart gamer girl.

There is one thing from my past I really miss, which was hiking. I fell out of it with the lack of anyone to hike with. Now it's simply very hard for me to do an easy hike I used to be able to do. I get winded fast on inclines now, steep or gradual. This isn't good and I realize it's my sedentary lifestyle which needs to change!"

My Goals:
My main goals are to keep myself out of a bad depression and keep my blood pressure down consistently. Also to help heal my shoulder and keep my back and knees strong.

Let's add dealing with stress in here too. A good jog on the treadmill can really help me when I start to get a bit stressed or a nice workout with Zumba!

Weight loss during this is side benefit.

My Program:
For cardio I switch off long walks with my dog or cardio DVDs.

I love Coach Nicole's fitness DVDs. I rotate with "SparkPeople 28 Day Bootcamp" and "SparkPeople Total Body Sculpting DVD"
They both combine cardio and strengthening in short sessions. It's great when you're busy!

Exhale Core Fusion videos are also great for a busy schedule, fast intense yoga workouts.

When the temperature is nice outside I like to go for a hike or walk on the many local trails around me.

Personal Information:
My name is Leslie and I'm from San Jose, CA

I'm a library specialist. Have you visited your local library this month?

Other Information:
Favorite books:
The Alchemist
Lord of the Rings Trilogy

I have a wide range of books I read.

I also play video games on both PC and Xbox 360. Some MMO's on and off, mainly Lord of the Rings.
