Introduction Text November 27, 2020 I will begin the Biggest Loser Challenge on Dec 1. I plan to pre-prepare foods, walk daily and read Eat for Life. So you see, I am going to be vegan/nutritarian. I have the team for support and hopefully my husband will see that he, too, needs to be supportive. November 16, 2020 My lumbar fusion surgery was October 6, 2020. It is taking a while to get over it. This week and next will be the last weeks I wear a brace. I cannot bend over, twist or lift anything over a gallon (5 lb.) until around the end of the year. I am getting stronger and having physical therapy at home. I had back surgery because I was in pain and nothing worked for me, pain shots, etc. Back surgery is painful. My end goal is travel. Dh retires this year and we want to travel. You have to feel good to travel. After covid and healing maybe the first place we will go is Savannah, GA. We also have England, Ireland, Nova Scotia and Israel on the list. September 3, 2020 Yesterday I went to my pre-op appointment with my neurosurgeon. My back surgery is scheduled for October 6. Dear husband met me there and he was greatly impressed with the surgeon. Good news, right before the surgery, I will be stopping Eliquis blood thinner... for GOOD. Apparently my AFIB is cured! One step at a time, one day at a time. I hoped to be off more meds by age 70 and I will be! Now I hope to be 40 pounds lighter by age 71. After back surgery, I plan to be able to take walks again and that should help. I already eat right, so life is exciting once more.... except for that covid thing.... and that political unrest thing. They will pass. July 20, 2020 That has to mean something 20/20/20 I was hoping to be healthier by the time my birthday rolls around this year and I will be. In no small part, thanks to my heart ablation and my whole food plant based eating. Think about this, all the bad diseases in the world have started with animals. Human kind needs to realize animals have a soul and feelings and need to be treated with kindness. I live in beef country. All my family are meat eaters. I still need my back "fixed" but that will take some time due to this current surgery, which took place July 7, 2020. All I can do is all I can do. I need some support for kidney function. Is anyone interested in kidney team with the focus on whole food plant based anti-inflammation? Positive thoughts equal positive results. Update 07/01/2020 Next week I will have a heart ablation. Even though it seems daunting, I believe it will cure my atrial fibrillation and get me off some medication. I am at peace with it. Next up, from 5 to 6 months later is back surgery, a lumbar fusion. That will take longer to heal, but I want everything fixed so I can enjoy life and do more cooking. At the present, I start hurting when I stand to cook. All is well, however. I am blessed and can walk, talk, see and hear. Some cannot. Update 04/23/2020 I am Motivator of the Day! I did not even know, it was pointed out to me. Health wise, I am social distancing, but some workmen have had to come in the house. I am being cautious but not fearful. I have the issues associated with not doing well with the Covid-19 virus. Dh still goes to work, but half the week, works from home. He is being cautious, as well. I continue to improve. I will see my doctor in June and get the official verdict from the lab reports. In the meantime, I am sticking to the plan. Update 03/24/2020 My goal this year was to gain health. It is March and I am gaining my health back slowly. The whole food plant based, low sodium, low sugar and low fat diet is the main thing that is helping. I got off of one blood pressure medication, but still taking another. I have not been able to exercise much, but I got shots in my back last week and my back feels better, so that helps, as well. Now I can exercise more. Life is improving as I inch my way to age 70. Update 12/31/2019 I look with excitement on every new year. This one seems more special because it is also a new decade. 2020... will we have new vision in our lives? I am counting on it. Now I stand confident in my ability to keep on my plant based path. It has not been easy. I have learned to enjoy cooking most of my meals. Dh has come along with me but still eats junk. I have not seen the results I want health wise, but I do feel better and have more energy. Still taking meds and lost a few pounds. I read some stories of going on this way of eating and one lost 40 pounds in 90 days! Yes, I am jealous. However, I am older with health issues that are not easily addressed. I am thankful I can walk, talk, see and hear. I plan to get back to painting soon, so that will be something new for the new year. I have given up on my Cricut hobby and will try to sell my machine and supplies. It is still popular. Here's to a great 2020! Update, November 18, 2019. I have more energy. Could be the CPAP or could be the vegan diet? Also I have lost 5 pounds. But I had gained previously and now am in this whole food plant based low sodium no oil low sugar for the long haul. I want to be off meds by my birthday in November, 2020. Labs in January will tell the tale. I am now on a CPAP every night. I don't know why I resisted for all these years. Yes, I have sleep apnea and now feel more energized. I am now vegan since the end of May, 2019 and working on health one problem at a time. Hopefully the weight will come off once I get healthy. I have been up and down in that regard. Now up. Many reasons. One is that I am unable to exercise as I wish, but am getting that worked out. So far, I am able to do more! Isn't that fabulous? I am learning that thoughts and words become reality, so watching my thoughts and what comes out of my mouth.

Continue plant based whole food eating. Exercise daily with at least a daily walk. Make a list of what I need to do each day. Pre-prepare foods for the days I don't feel like cooking.

I strayed from vegan with my recent back surgery. I am back on the wagon and reading Eat for Life by Joel Fuhrman, MD. Daily exercise and preparing foods. Same as my goals.
