Motivation used to seem like a mysterious sort of "grace" that came to me from the ethers! What I have learned from all the reading and Spark material is that motivation is actually the feeling of success from reaching goals. It's that feeling that keeps me rolling. Getting started is the hard part. Chris Downie's suggestion is to set teeny tiny goals that are absolutely reachable and then celebrate reaching them, then set slightly larger goals, celebrate, then keep ramping up the goals. This process gradually develops momentum. That is my key word: momentum. Mine may slow at times which is fine, I feel old some days! But I am still rolling alone. I pick up speed when I challenge myself - like 7 days consecutively staying within calorie ranges. I just finished a day 4 - it had been hard for a week before that. The success feels good and makes it more doable the next day. Anyhoo, that's my how-to!

Howdy! I want to second that welcome! Since I have tried multiple times to "diet" only to fade out at the end, get complacent and regain it all (plus some) my best advice is to go slowly, practice keeping your commitment clear and stick with the lifelong healthy lifestyle! The best of luck to you!
