I have had rheumatoid arthritis since age 6 1/2 and have had over 35 surgeries (not all related to it) and I know what its like to have to start over at the beginning again and again. Never giving up has been my life story. I am constantly modifying my activities to suit my body's changes. The severe damage done to my hands and elbows means I can't do serious strength training, but my alternatives have worked for me.
I have had five joint replacements (one failed and had to be redone). Its not slowing me down. I am enjoying fitness classes ranging from kickboxing to Zumba! Surgical recoveries are a nuisance, but with Sparks, I had no weight gain. No excuses when you can track your food!!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Fitness Minutes: 186,876

My Goals:
I want to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle and make sure the weight never creeps back on. I want to be as fit as my body will allow me. I enjoy every minute I am able to move!

My Program:
Maintenance going well. Recovered from an elbow replacement in Jan 2011 (it failed 3 years later and I wasn't able to use my right arm for a year as it went through healing and multiple surgeries) and foot surgery on Aug 4 2011 and am working out like a demon enjoying a free liesure pass to my city's civic centers! Trying out all kinds of fitness classes and loving them!! For a change low income pays! In winter, when I can't go out, I do a lot of home workouts online and DVD's. I also have an elliptical, Swiss ball, step, dumbbells, bands, hula hoop and a skipping rope so lots of options.

Personal Information:
I am from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and volunteer for the Regional Health Authority
I am a single 55 year old living on a disability pension
I am 5' 4" and my weight varies between 130-39

Other Information:
I enjoy reading, writing, playing bridge, seeing action/fantasy movies and helping Mom with her amazing garden (when she lets me). I love going for long hikes with Mom and her darling dog Daisy. I love working and playing on a computer

Thank you so much for reading my blog! Yoga can definitely be a very cathartic experience (although not usually, or classes would be pretty alarming). I actually found Spark through a SparkPeople Recipe, looked around, and decided to stay. :-) And I've been cooking with careful thought since!

    Have a wonderful day!

Hi, and thanks for the comment on my blog. I have thought about timing myself to see what kind of pace I have, so maybe I will try that. The other day I walked a 17-minute mile, and I put that in, but usually I don't walk that quick. I'll try it again and see where I get. Thank you!!

I want to get him into agility classes, but first he needs to learn to listen to me! his problem is he gets to excited to see other people or some dogs that I could be pushing down on him to keep him on all fours and hes just fighting me and then when I do let him go and try to voice command his attention he will just ignore me and keep jumping on the person or clawing them, he will literally dig his claws all over there body and even with his nails cut there still sharp. So I figure if I can get him to listen to a zap collar with just the buzzes all I have to do is hold the remote up and get him to understand when i show it I mean business and get his mind all on me and nothing else. I know its going to be a long haul but I love my dog and he loves me so we will have to work as a team and not fight each other, I know when he gets fixed and we work slowly on all the problems I believe he has he will be the best dog in the world!!

    Thanks for the welcome back.

I will let you know how I go with Wi Fit - am hoping it will help as finding it hard to get out to gyms etc these days. Cannot wait for it to arrive and then hopefully make a start - my son has one and went on it and it gave my Wii age as 65 - so plenty of work to do in it :)

Well done on your weight loss
