I am a 64-year-old grandmother of nine. Health and fitness have always been a concern in our family. A few years ago I had to have knee replacement surgery and I put on quite a bit of weight. Now I want it gone and I've started to live healthy again.

My main concern is trying to eat enough calories and get enough protein. I've never been a big eater and now that I've cut out the junk food, it seems I never get enough for what I burn. I plan on doing some research to find healthy snacks from this site.

I want to be a healthy, strong senior and I'm willing to work for it. I'm finding Sparkpeople may just give me the incentive to keep moving forward.

Fitness Minutes: 1,877

My Goals:
I need to drop another 28 pounds so I don't have to have another knee replacement.

I also want to quit smoking and I'm finding that a bigger challenge than losing weight.

My Program:
30 - 45 minutes per day stationary bike. (10 - 11 km)
30 - 40 minutes 5 - 6x per week strength training
30-minute leisurely walk after supper

I live in the middle of God's country with no access to a gym so all my workouts are done from home with limited equipment. Thanks to Youtube I have found great videos to workout with. I use Hasfit, Xfit, and Fitness Blender.

Personal Information:
I spend most of my time right now building an online store for knitted and crocheted items. I'm hoping to have it up and running by the fall. My husband and I are also entertainers at two local bars 5x per month.

Other Information:
I also have an online blog. I write about everything and anything. It's mostly about retirement and how important it is to stay healthy and active as a senior. There are also a few rants, recipes, and lots of bullcrap.
