My name is Lynda and I am a Type 2 Diabetic. I am on a continuous journey to find what works best for me and my body. My goals are to lower my A1C, lower my weight and cholesterol. Initially I tried the Canada Food Guide for Diabetes and promptly gained 10 lbs. Next I tried LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) and lost 15 lbs but it all came back, even though I was maintaining my LCHF way of eating. Back to the drawing board. I am currently on a Vegan (No meat low fat) program. So far so good. I am hoping for improved numbers in my blood tests at my next 3 month Dr. visit. I believe each person needs to do what works for them - no judgement. So while this worked I found it was not sustainable for me.
A few months later, I stumbled across Dr. William Davis' book "Undoctored" in a bargain bin and read it cover to cover in one day! He is also the author of the "Wheat Belly" series of books, so in my unending journey to good health I am doing this now. Back to LCHF, which worked for me - to a point. He does however have some suggestions about plateaus. Being a Cardiologist, hopefully gives me some wise words to learn from. Good luck to all on your feel better - weight loss journey.
