I definitely missed them yesterday. Not only have the little ones left the nest, but the whole family has packed up and relocated. I miss watching the adults in the evening. They are so graceful when they hunt on the wing. They seem to glide at incredible speeds and turn on a dime. Oh, well! Something to look forward to next year, maybe. Since I have no trees on my property, I count myself as lucky that they settled here at all.

I pay my water, sewer, trash, and electric through the city here. This is the first place I've ever lived where the city bills the electric, not the utility company. Since yours does it too, maybe it's a small-town thing?

So funny! My neighbor across the street has her grandkids visiting for several weeks. She was just complaining to me the other day that she had to fight with her granddaughter to shower. This "day off" thing must be a new fad!

My heat is gas (as is my hot water and stove), so the electric bill stays fairly low all year round. But it really goes down when I'm not running the air-conditioning, or heat (the fan for the heat is electric). My gas bill this month was $18. That's the lowest it's been by far since I moved in. It should stay that way until I need to turn the heat back on in the fall.

My utility bills here are a lot lower than when I lived back east. That's partly because my heat back there was electric, and partly because it's so much cooler (and less humid) here in the summer. Of course the cost of living in general is much higher here (especially housing) than where I used to live. I guess if they don't get you one way, they get you another!

I'm trying that tonight. When I got home this evening it was after 8:00 pm and felt cooler, so I turned off the air and opened the windows. We'll see how that works. I might have to use it in the later part of the morning as well, at least until the monsoons start. It starts getting fairly warm here by later morning lately. I do like doing without the air conditioning as much as possible. Just got my latest electric bill. It was $30 emoticon

Are you pretty much having to run yours non-stop?
