Hi and Welcome to my Spark Page.
My name is Jackie and I started my journey on March 25, 2008.
I reached my goal weight of 112 in August 2. 2008* (see note at bottom).

I initially found Spark People through another website and decided to look into it. It was free and I had nothing to lose except for the extra weight I was carrying around.
After getting married in 2002 to my wonderful husband, I moved in with him and his 2 young sons. Suddenly having a family with children was new to me and a little overwhelming at times to say the least, and I found myself turning to food to deal with all the new found stress. Of course, that didn't solve anything. But, it was a pattern I would continue for the next several years.
When I came upon the Spark People website that day, I was so ready for a change.
I absorbed everything I could by reading the articles, participating on my Spark Teams, and using the Nutrition and Fitness Trackers. They were a godsend.
I started out slowly, but I kept at it. I knew I didn't put on the weight overnight and it wasn't going to come off overnight.
When I started seeing results, that spurred me on to add more cardio to my workout. After a couple of months, I also added strength training to my workout routine.

It was and still is a lot of hard work, but it's SO WORTH IT!
I am healthier, I am back into my regular size clothes again, and I am so much more aware of what I am putting into my mouth.

I reached my goal weight on August 2, 2008 and have had some ups and downs but holding steady at my present weight of 116.

I do cardio 5- 6 times a week and strength training 3 times a week.
Life can get very hectic, but it's also full of choices. I choose to be healthy and take care of me. If I am healthy, I can better take care of my family. So, no matter how busy I am, I find time for exercise. It's my gift to me! It's all about choices.
I still have some days where I indulge more than I should but I don't beat myself up about it. I just keep moving.

So, to new members and to members who feel discouraged, don't give up. Use all the great resources Spark has to offer. If I can offer any words of wisdom, it would be to just keep plugging away. You WILL reach your goal. Stay determined and if you stumble along the way, just get back up and keep moving forward. YOU CAN DO IT!
The support from Spark People and my Spark Friends has been paramount in helping me reach my goals. Thank you all!

Blessings!

Jackie

Jackie, thank you for your kind note. We are doing okay over here, and beautiful weather certainly helps! I don't have much work at the moment, so it's a good time to catch up on weed pulling and bush trimming outside.

I hope you have a good, relaxing weekend. Stay well, my friend.

Jackie, thank you so much for your lovely comment on my feed. It was very comforting. I felt fine at the beginning--not at all worried about the virus, thinking it would soon be resolved, but as the weeks wore on and I saw all the images on the news of the food lines and people hooked up to respirators, it just got to be overwhelming. I feel so sorry for all who've lost their jobs, especially those with children to support. I am glad to hear that you were called back to work! It really helps to have a little structure back again, I'm guessing, and being able to come home to the house you've been spring cleaning! I hope things remain stable for you and that you remain well and at peace.

    Take care.
