I first found Spark in January 2010. I can remember being both excited and overwhelmed with the website. It took me about a month to get my Spark page up and to figure out how everything worked. I did a lot of reading from the spark book, and started to follow my plan. It was VERY time consuming at first, but I lost 40 lbs! YAY! Mission accomplished! And then I just got lazy and stopped logging and tracking. Yep...gained it all back.

I would get motivated to start again, but this self-investment does require time and effort on my part, weight loss does not just magically happen while I sleep...unfortunately. I began to rationalized that 'I am just fine the way I am' and I should just accept it. I would be happier if I could just accept my body the way it is. This is my "Go-to excuse" that I use when things are difficult. But really, I cannot accept it. I hate my fat, I hate the jiggle, and I know I would feel better if I were healthier and stronger. So back to Spark I went.

The cycle is endless. You know how sometimes life sends you little signs? I have had several, but the worst was when I sat down and blew out the butt seam of my pants...in public! Yep, this was one of many signs that contributed to the cycle. Again, I tracked everything, participated in some spark challenges and started seeing results; however, I was not fully committed and continued my on-again-off-again relationship with Spark. My inconsistency was embarrassing, and I felt I was letting down my Spark friends by not being there for support on a regular basis. It was just easier to quit again.

Too humiliated to come back to Spark...I took a spin with weight watchers, and was doing pretty good, but it is expensive. Is that just another excuse? Maybe. I've got a whole suitcase full of excuses...and admitting to myself that I am starting over again just feels crappy because it is admitting that I have failed myself countless times.

So, I am humbly returning from my "Spark-Hiatus" because if I take a good long look at my history with Spark, I have had many, many successes that cannot be ignored. For starters, I have maintained some of those healthy habits even while away (just not enough of them!). So maybe I am just a slow learner, maybe the wisdom is finally starting to sink in? We will see!

Good Luck to all of you with your goals, I look forward to reading about them in your blogs! :) Jody
