I am a married 53 year old mother of four. As most moms, my kids are my life and I thoroughly cherish each day with them. This is my 29th year of teaching special education. I love the kids. I have been struggling with the diagnosis of hypothyroidism and now am entering the world of menopause. I have maintained a healthy lifestyle with the support of family, friends and this community. I now look at non-scale victories over a number on the scale. I have been running for about six years. ...

I have been struggling with the diagnosis of hypothyroidism and now am entering the world of menopause. I have maintained a healthy lifestyle with the support of family, friends and this community. I now look at non-scale victories over a number on the scale. I have been running for about six years. In 2014 I ran 12 runs in 12 months. They included 7 half marathons, three 10k and two 5k runs. Since that time I have run a few 50k, a couple marathons and a 50 mile race.

My Goals:
1. Accept all that is "thrown" at me.
2. Exercise for enjoyment, not competition.
3. To share the running experience with family and friends.
4. Continue to live a healthy lifestyle.

My Program:
 Eat smart, MOVE daily and love the "new" me.


Personal Information:
I love horses! I've rode and trained them for over 30 years. I've also taught therapy dog classes for 17 years. I guess I'm an "all around" educator.

Other Information:
 Mom of four kids ages 19-24. I now run trails and I love it! No more concrete for me.

    Okay, I tried three times to comment on your latest blog and it won't let me so I came here instead. Maybe you can smile and sweetly say "thank you" every time someone makes one of those comments. Will they have the nerve to say "it wasn't a compliment?" I have to say, though, that as someone with 20 lbs to go, it seems like kind of a nice problem to have. I cannot remember the last time someone thought I was too slender! emoticon I think, often, people don't know quite what to say so they blurt something out, not realizing how it comes across. You have accomplished something so many people want, and you worked hard for it, as you know better than anyone. Enjoy!
