Been trying to get down to a normal weight for years. In my 70's with multiple health issues. Dr. limits my exercise drastically, so hard to keep away from flabbiness with weight loss. Lost quite a bit of weight in 1999, had heart issue and gained back all that I lost plus 25 pounds more!

As of today, May 4, 2017, I'm still under doctor's strict care regarding my health issues, but I am continuing to try to be as active as I can and eat as healthy as I can. I'm now 76,,and additional health issues keep popping up.

I'm still raising my granddaughter, now 17yo. Still homeschooling her; she will be a Senior this Fall. It has been a journey, but I have enjoyed it tremendously.

Still very overweight and still struggling to lose it. Not being able to exercise much is very detrimental, plus I have not been able to get good sleep. Lots of stress and pain doesn't help.

My Goals:
Enter a summary of your goals, or just a few you would like to share.

Would like to lose at least 10# during BLC34

Am working on getting in more time being up and about and building up energy. Osteoporosis hinders me a lot for being up more than 30 min.

My Program:
I use the Spark People Diabetes Weight Loss plan, but make revisions as needed for my own nutritional differences. Fridge and pantry are kept stocked with healthy options, but having a teen means junk food is imminent!

Personal Information:
I am a homeschooling grandma to my granddaughter, 17, that I have raised since her birth. I am in my 70's and have multiple health issues, but exercising, eating healthy, living an all over healthy lifestyle is"keeping me young"!
I was 76 on July 30th.2016.Soon to be 77!

Other Information:
I enjoy doing all kinds of needlework, but mostly do knitting and crocheting. Have some pillowcases ready to be embroidered, but haven't found time yet. Eyes have been too bad lately. I love reading Amish fiction books from the library and really enjoy a couple games on my iPhone. lol I had cataracts removed from both eyes this year, but didn't seem to help much. Still struggle to read or write or use computer and phone

Welcome to the Shooting Stars 5% Challenge Team. You'll enjoy the fun "trips" we take as we travel on. I am so glad you are participating with the team. It is an extra challenge to have health issues and all that comes with it. But, you can still find ways to achieve your goals of a healthier life and lifestyle. Check out Indygirl for inspiration and some ideas about what kinds of things you might consider doing when your traditional exercise choices are limited. Just put Indygirl in the search box at the top of the Spark Page and hit enter. You'll get a list and click through to her page. She also has a Team Indygirl you can join to stay inspired. Consider chair exercises or do a search for other resources for exercise ideas that you might be able to do. Take each day as it comes. Celebrate yourself and your desire to have a healthier life and lifestyle. I'm glad you joined the Shooting Stars team. Enjoy the journey.

Thanks for the friend add. I have added you as a friend as well and look forward to journeying together here at Spark.
I must say that is quite a challenge to take on raising 2 grandchildren at your age. I understand somewhat the challenges of living with ADD children as I have taught special education and have a nephew who I am quite involved with who lives on the autism spectrum with ADD. I also have a brother with cognitive challenges. These two young boys are so fortunate to have a grandmother who cares for them and homeschools them too.

I am a "mommy-grandma. I have been raising two of my grandchildren since their births in 2000 and 2001. I have also homeschooled them. Both are ADHD and the younger is moderately learning delayed. The older is now going to be 13 this month and in 7th grade. The younger has not been able to progress very far in academics, but smart in many other ways and very loving. It's been quite a journey, starting motherhood to a newborn at the age of 60! emoticon emoticon
