I am 39 years old and I work at a physically demanding job. I want to be as healthy as I can be for as long as possible. I joined Spark People two years ago and I occasionally tried to get into my plan. I am now almost forty and I am determined to lose this weight that makes me so unhappy. I am struggling with the idea of eating a lot of chemicals in most diet food . I am trying to eat more fruits and veggies and smaller portions. I am struggling the most with giving up my sweet tea, I almost live on the stuff. I gave up soda and now I am trying to give up my sweet tea without using artificial sweeteners. Any suggest would be appreciated.

I am doing better on the sweet tea I don't make it at home and now only have to deal with it at work. I have managed to drink my water almost everyday since Nov 28. I missed a couple of days when computer and internet went down. I found out how important Spark People is to my journey, I really struggled to stay on plan but I am proud to say I didn't gain back a lot .I am still floating between 220 and 217 is my new low weight. I am trying to start exercising but it is a struggle to get off my behind and do so but I have started doing a few crunches, girl push ups, and leg raises every other morning recently.

My Goals:
I would like to start and maintain a healthy eating plan and exercise plan to reduce my weight to a healthy one and maintain it.

1. Eat a healthy Breakfast every day within an hour of getting up

2. exercise at least 10 minutes every day

3. Drink my water everyday

My Program:
I am trying to eat healthier and exercise on a regular basis. I am just getting started so things are very much up in the air

I am measuring my food intake and doing my best to stay with in my calorie goals and meet my other goals

I am walking where I can to get in my steps

Personal Information:
I live in Houston, Tx on the southwest side. I like to take walks and use the bus when I can to increase my exercise daily. I am single with no kids. I enjoy cooking, knitting, and I am trying to explore new hobbies so I have something to do other then eat.

Other Information:
I love to cook and I love to read murder mysteries some of my favorites are Joann Fluke and Diane Mott Davidson as they include yummy recipes

    Hi Michelle...just checking in with you to see how you are doing...I have a suggestion to help kick start your weight loss....being a chef, I KNOW just how diet threatening it is to work in a restaurant....

    My tip is to try going vegetarian for a week, and then add meat only 3-4 times a week...not only did it get my scale moving down again, but I really feel better eating this way...this is a major switch for me since I lost 60 pounds before joing SP doing low fact I have been doing low carb for over 10 years...but when working in a restaurant, "snacks" are always available and you know where I am going with this...

    The bright side of going veg, is that it is a LOT cheaper, keeps you feeling fuller, longer AND HEALTHIER! If you are interested, Spark Mail me and I can hook you up with some of my favourites....

    Hi fellow Accountability tracker,

    I do have a suggestion for your tea habit (my bf recently switched to unsweetened tea too).
    You could try having a different kind of tea to start a new habit.

    Also, using a very small amount of honey could help you since it's a natural sweetener. You could use less and less over time. Some people also love a few drops of lemon juice in their tea.

    Experiment and don't give up tea altogether. It's a wonderful addition to your diet and a great way of getting even more water in!!
