I'm back on Spark People after a 4 month "hiatus" :P. I realized I needed to come back in order to put my personal pledge "out there" and make it public; make myself somewhat accountable I suppose.

I started at Spark People last February; with the strong desire to live healthier, I quit smoking, and began to exercise a lot more and eat much healthier - I even lost 7 pounds after quitting smoking! In the middle of June I left Spark, thinking I had kicked the "Nicodemon" for good and that my healthy lifestyle was permanently ingrained. So I turned off my page, only to start smoking again 1/2 month later! I'm actually wondering if I turned the page off and left Spark, knowing in my subconscious that I was going to start smoking again...but that's probably WAY too psychological to dwell on. :P Anyway, I managed to tell myself all the little lies that go with quitting smoking (hey, you got through 4 1/2 months...this is just a "phase"...you're not REALLY smoking again !?!). It is now November, and yes...I can admit to myself, I'm addicted again. The good thing is that I'm still eating quite healthy (at least SOMETHING managed to stick! LoL). I also managed to keep on exercising - that is, until a couple of weeks back into work (September). For the last month my exercise regime has gone down the tubes. I'm tired of smoking...it's wearing me down...and I'm sick and tired of the procrastination of exercising that goes along with my smoking habit. It's time to do something about this, and I'm the only one that can make it happen.

Here's my pledge to myself: I will live life in balance and look after my body each and every day, making changes in moderation: exercise, eating healthy, phasing out and quitting smoking.

I'm terrible with keeping up on Spark Team postings, so I think I'll stick to just my regular page here, focusing on using my blog entries as a personal journal, and trying to support others in their own journies as I am able.

My Goals:
*Step One:January 2008.
Phase out smoking habits and learn to detest each and every cigarette. Keep my body healthy by exercising every day.

*Step Two:February 2008.
Completely phase out of smoking, i.e., give up the habit. Set some new exercise goals.


My Program:
January 2008:
*Smoke only when not doing anything else: i.e., drinking coffee, at the computer, etc. Put each cigarette off as long as possible, and when smoking one, think about what it's doing to my body at the moment.
*Exercise every day: yoga, take the dog for a walk, get on the treadmill and walk/run.
