Finding my bliss again.
One of my key mantras yet again. Exercise is still the best medicine.
This is a concept I need to apply regularly.

In one week, on January 9, the 2021 Winter 5% Weight Loss Challenge begins. My interim goal was to start at or below my ending weight from the last challenge, and I'm happy to say I'll be able to do that, provided I don't indulge in anymore unexpected ice cream purchases. What was I thinking?

Yes, I'm planning my exercise routine and looking ahead to meeting with a dietician to start an "Elimination Diet" to discover what foods trigger my GI flares. My wonderful DH is willing to try the diet with me hoping that it will help him lose weight. Stay tuned...

My Goals:
I want to stay healthy, mobile, and lean for the rest of my life.
I'd like to follow "The Younger Next Year" advice including 60 minutes of exercise 6 days a week for the rest of my life.
Return to the healthy weight I maintained in my 40s, now that I've hit my 60s.
Continue to run/walk, and exercise with intensity.
My Program:
January 2, 2021 Update:
Exercise has to be my priority.
1. Jog outdoors 3 to 4 times a week, increasing run to walk ratio.
2. Do 4x4 HIIT once a week.
3. Use Essentrics videos for mobility and flexibility. Start on non-running days, working toward daily.
4. Monitor my fitness levels using heart rate.
5. Revise my program when we go to our winter home if the fitness center or pool are available.
Nutrition Goals:
1. Make a conscious effort to increase water intake, 5-6 cups; 8 cups is not realistic for me.
2. Reduce alcohol consumption.
3. Monitor trigger foods closely, meet with a dietician in January.
4. Eat a Mediterranean diet as much as possible.
Accountability Goals:
1. Weigh-in weekly, Saturdays for the 2021 Winter 5% Challenge.
2. Post exercise, LTGL goals every day.
Personal Information:
My DH and I are retired. Both of us were reared on family farms, so we love open space and quiet whenever possible. We are able to travel between those two farms, as well as to winter in the Southwest for health reasons.
Other Information:
I love baking, cooking, and eating. So aside from a sweet tooth, I cook from scratch and have a relatively healthful diet. I enjoy sewing, knitting, reading, and gardening when on the farm. As a person on faith, I believe it's important to care for ourselves, others, and our planet.
