This is now...
In 2017 I stopped eating meat regularly as a way of supporting my wife. She had come to realise that eating meat was not good for her both physically (it caused her incredibly bad gut pains and problems) and emotionally. In the past she had tried to go vegetarian in a nonsupportive environment but returned to meat eating because it was hard enough running a home without cooking 3 separate meals every evening, kids, husband, and herself. I figured, it won't hurt and it's not like I can't eat meat if I want to.

But the benefits for me physically were amazing. Weight started falling off without my doing anything else. I've lost over 60# in the last year since I went completely veggie.

Portions are better controlled. I'm eating loads more fruit and veg.

I still have treats regularly. The missus is a really good cake baker and makes cakes regularly. I never refuse a slice.

Most importantly I think though is that I am okay with my weight wherever it may be. I can go weeks and the scales don't move more than one of two pounds both directions, then bam! I will drop 4 or 5. And the bouncing starts over again.

Right now, today, 6 July 2019 l have removed 89 excess pounds of weight from my body. If I never lose another pound, I will be happy. If I continue to lose and eventually reach my goal of between 135-140, I will be equally happy.

That was then.....
I have had years of trying to lose without success. Now I have gotten up to the highest I've ever been and my health and physical well being is suffering as a result.

I don't know yet if I can face trying to lose but I need to at least stop gaining.

And get into some better eating habits along the way.

Purpose and Vision

I want to be as healthy as I can be for as long as I can be so I can be with my family for as long as I can possibly be.

Value and Belief

In order to be as healthy as I can be I need to continue to make positive changes in my life.

Goal setting

Primary goals:

In order maximise my chance of achieving my Purpose and Vision I need to...

1. Reach a healthy weight between 9-10 stones (126-140 pounds). Physical health
2. Take care of basic health needs. Physical, mental, and emotional health
3. Get adequate sleep each night. Physical, mental, and emotional health
4. Be as active as possible for as long as possible. Physical health
5. Continue to learn new things and grow mentally. Mental and emotional health
6. Grow a spiritual practice. Spiritual health

My Program:
Intuitive vegetarian eating

Whole, healthy foods. Nothing forbidden.
Sensible portions. Eating when I am hungry. (I'm tracking but if I go over or under my calorie range I'm not going to worry about it.

I've been eating a fully vegetarian diet for several months now.

Not able to do most exercise activities, but right now I can walk as long as I don't do too much at one time. So work on getting my steps in every day.

Personal Information:
I am a 53 year old mother of three boys, ages 31, 16, and 14, and the step mother of two more boys, aged 12 and 6. We live in SE London, England.

I have been dealing with chronic illnesses for a number of years --, minor kidney problems, and severe depression, anxiety and PTSD, and what I had been told was rheumatoid arthritis but now turns out to very likely be Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. (I'm still undergoing testing)

I cannot remember a day that I have not been in pain over the past 25 years, some days though are better than others.

Otherwise, I am a Pagan. I am an Energy Healer (Intuitive Reiki and shamanic healing methods) . I am married to a woman who is beautiful inside and out.

Other Information:
I have Asperger's, and so do my boys. I didn't realise that I am an aspie until I about 2 years ago. But this is an integral part of who I am today.

    What, that sweet innocent full of mischief? Bwuuuhahahahaha! Yep, he's 13 weeks old, and I watch over him one day a week when my son has to actually show up at the office.

    This morning Carl has fetched my mesh bags for washing "delicates" up from the laundry room, and a neoprene swimming sock from my triathlon gear, plus gnawed through a curtain pull... of course I forgave him for each infraction, telling him he was a good boy to drop ____ when commanded.

    But you're right... keeps me on my toes that one day a week. No promises about the rest of the week, when he's my son's problem!
