At the end of last year I turned 50 years old. I have had many birthdays (50 in fact!) but this one has been a bit tough for me. I have prided myself on being fearless about aging but... it is not true. I am becoming fearful of getting older. This year I am letting go of many old, comfortable parts of my life and have resolved to take up new challenges.

I go into the new year with a new approach to my health and fitness. This will be a year of change because my current job (which I have been doing joyfully for more than 12 years) will end in May. As the cliche goes--- when a door closes, several more open. I am still looking for those open doors! :-) But I know they are out there. Join me on this journey to a new year and a new life.

I have spent about half of those 50 years being over weight (and if I am being more honest I must admit that I have spent the past 15 years being obese.)

I have at least 44 pounds to lose before I can see the much-wanted One-der Land of 199 pounds. And after that I have another 25 pounds to go before I hit my pre-baby weight. And then another 25 pounds after that to get to a healthy BMI.

EIGHT GOALS

Goal 1 - THE LIQUIDS
Get rid of the alcohol and soda - switch to water, tea and coffee only

Goal 2 - TRACKING
Start Tracking my food and calories daily

Goal 3 - MOVING
Start Walking Daily

Goal 4 - FLEXIBILITY
Start stretching daily

Goal 5 - STRENGTH
Strength training 3 days a week

Goal 6 - LOSE
Lose 2 pounds per week

Goal 7 - ONE-DERLAND - August 1st 2020
Weigh in at 199 or less

Goal 8 - OVERWEIGHT BMI of 30 or below (below 170 pounds) by Dec 31 2020
Yes - that's right - I want to be "overweight". At the moment I am "Obese Class III" with a BMI of 43. So - essentially I need to down to less 169 pounds or less to get to be "overweight".
