I am Bob, I am 72 years old. I was a crouch potato and out of shape when I was 67, but joining Sparkpeople 2 days after my 67th birthday in 2013 was the best health decision I ever made. Another good decision was to join one of the seasonal 5% weight loss challenge Spark teams in the winter of 2017, It was on that team that I finally reached my goal weight by following exercise and "living the good life" health challenges. The point is that I found that you will grow stronger by moving outside of your comfort zone to take full advantage of each situation by setting goals and persevering in the face of difficulty.

As for exercise, I have set a challenging goal of doing 100 pushups in a set and run a mile in under 12 minutes. I can now do over 50 pushups in one set. I aim to get to at least 60 pushups in one set by July 4th, 2019, I also am working on decreasing my time doing a 1 mile run. I decided that rather than running a 5K, speed over a shorter distance was more important to me.

I am making use of my innate skills of self-awareness, imagination, conscience, and an independent will to make better choices, for my health, my relationships. I want to be a good example for my children and others. The better they develop their skills, the more successful they will be.

The power of self-awareness:
I Know that my past, my thoughts and my feelings do not define my potential, I will spend time focused on my present actions rather than worry about the past or future.

The power of imagination
I start with a positive end result in mind and mentally create a story having a positive result based upon current and imagined situations. I widen my range of knowledge and I strengthen my knowledge on that which I'm passionate about and imagine all the possible benefits and disadvantages of any new idea with respect to my priorities.

The power of conscience
I read stories of virtuous people I admire, and I consider how my actions would affect others, care for and have empathy for others, and try to always act in a way that would benefit for the world. I know that my example will enable others to grow by my example..

The power of an independent will
I develop my own view of right and wrong, but although I Know that others can disagree with my idea of what is virtuous, I do what you feel is right. I feel that I have no right to judge others, but I have a right to chose my friends. I never point out my view of right and wrong in a way that disrespects others unless I feel it is necessary for the well being of myself or others since this world will be a better place if others follow my example.

I wish all a success and hope you enjoyed my sharing these thoughts. Thank you for reading my Page With Love - Bob
