Maintaining with Help from SparkPeople!
Logging in regularly and tracking my food and exercise here on SparkPeople is helping me maintain a weight that is healthy. After spending many of my adult years going up and down on the scale, I feel lucky to have hit upon a routine that works. The tools here on this site have been great for my journey!
I also enjoy all the friends I've met here! The companionship and friendly competition has helped keep the day-to- day effort interesting.

There will always be ups and downs in my motivation, but logging in every day is a discipline I follow no matter what. I've also learned that I have to pay attention every day to what the scale tells me. I'm not going to be upset with normal fluctuations in weight, but certainly when there is an upward trend over several days, I know it is time for me to become extra vigilant.
I know I do best when I get 3 strength sessions per week interspersed with cardio in between. Our Local Family Y has been a lifesaver! So many different classes to choose from, plus a lot of friendly people to participate with! I pretty much have a set routine of classes I attend so I don't have to think about it or make decisions each day about what I'm going to do for my workout. I also have a wonderful spin bike at home for some of my cardio days. I've recently added yoga back into the mix.
I've had an extra challenge to deal with starting the summer of 2016. My mom, who I'd been helping out for several years due to age related issues, started exhibiting symptoms of having had a stroke. After time and many tests in the hospital, it was determined that she had brain cancer. From the onset of her symptoms till her death was almost exactly 3 months. I was with her every day, and as the executor of her estate, have been involved with many issues since her death in October of 2016. At one time I considered taking a break from SparkPeople, but decided it would do me more harm than good. I've slacked a bit on how much I respond on certain teams, but for the most part I'm trying to "hang in there". As of March 2017, I'm still working on getting her house and property ready for an estate sale. I keep telling myself (especially at 3 a.m. some mornings when I wake up) .... I Can Do This! It Will Get Done! Update: October 2017 - Still working with my Mom's house. Estate sale is done and I'm now trying to get it in shape to list. Someday I'll look back on this period of my life -- and be so thankful that it is in the past. I'm looking forward to that day!
update November 2018: We closed on the house in June of 2018. What a nerve-wracking process that was....including several last minute crises with the buyers. I still think about my Mom quite a bit. I drive by the turnoff to her house on my way into town and realize I won't have to be going to check on the house anymore. I've had a great sense of relief, and finally wrote the last check for property taxes this October. I'm sleeping better and happier in general. I've been thinking seriously about what I've got stored in MY house, and have been doing some serious de-cluttering. Still haven't gone through all Mother's stuff I hauled home, but I'm working on it.

Happy
Day! It would be cool to see fish and turtles under the ice, but I'm leery about it supporting my weight. Glad you only heard a crack and nothing more!
