I spent a lot of time not really having a plan, and I definitely need a plan! LOL I really just follow a clean diet, try to eat lots of nutritious food, and I don't shun grains or carbs anymore, although I wouldn't say I load up on them either. I'll be running my next marathon (hopefully) in November, and another one in December, so my goal is to really get my nutrition on track and then keep it on track as I ramp up my miles. I'd like to lose another 5 lbs to be back to where I was a few years back. =) Those last lbs ARE the hardest, so I am right there with you!

Hey, I just saw your comment on my post! I've actually been on (and off) SparkPeople for almost 9 years, and have actually have gone through a lot of different diet-types, even eating low-carb while running long-distance. I just posted a blog about how I don't think low-carb and keto are the way to go anymore, and why. I have been doing a lot of reading online as well as some different books, or dietary recommendations from other sources. One of the books I am reading is called "Roar" written by a woman Phd who did her studies specifically on nutrition for women athletes. Definitely a good read! What kind of nutrition plan are you following now?

Thank you for the compliment. My tummy has been a thorn in my side along with my thighs. I'm still trying to improve. Pilates helps and keeping up the cardio and eating well. There is no magic involved. Find activities that you enjoy.

Enjoy the run. Enjoy the atmosphere. Enjoy the people. And especially the fact that for 24 hours after the marathon you can eat whatever the hell you want. Lol
