The short version of my weight gain/loss journey is pretty simple.

Growing up, I was always fit and at a healthy weight. When I went to college, a number of factors caused me to gain the freshman 50 instead of the freshman 15. Somewhere between the first and second semester, I had forgotten how to eat!

Eating out was such a novelty, and my work study job at the cafeteria did not allow me to eat at regular meal times. A combination of these factors along with stress and relationship drama helped me pack on the pounds fast!

By the end of college, I'd found a loving husband, but didn't get truely motivated to try to lose the weight until we were happily married for nearly 10 years. My husband has stood by my side through thick, thin, and at least a half-dozen half-hearted dieting attempts.

Now, with renewed vigor, I have set out once again! I joined Spark one month after I'd already begun my weight loss journey.

Starting weight: 250

Sparkpeople join weight: 235

Sept 14, 2012: 199.4! Halfway through!

May, 2013: 175: 3/4 of the way through the 100lb initial goal. Things are getting harder!

Jan, 2014: After struggling for six months and gaining back a little weight, I've decided to shake things up by going low-carb for a while

My Program:
I have a recumbant stationary bike in my home, as well as a set of free weights, some resistance bands, and a second-hand weight machine. I bike for 30 min/ Mon/Weds/Fri and use the P90X strength DVDs on Tues/Thurs/Sat

As for food, I am counting calories and restricting myself to 1400-1500 a day. I am currently working on getting more protein into my diet, and cutting out processed foods.

Videogames! I love JRPGs, puzzle games, and about 3/4 of things made by Blizzard

Anime/Manga: I'm a big fan of Japonica in general. My favorite manga genres are supernatural, action, and sometimes romance. If you combine those together, that's pretty much my ideal series.

Crafts: I'm teaching myself a little bit about jewelry making. I'm still learning, but it's fun. I also enjoy sewing, cosplay, prop making, and costuming in general. My favorite holiday is Halloween!

Books: I don't read as much as I used to, but I still enjoy a good book. Some of my favorite authors are Neil Gaiman, Tanith Lee, Terry Pratchett, Anne Rice (Um.. older stuff. Not the new stuff. Sorry Anne Rice! I'm not a fan of your Jesus fanfics!)

I've also participated in NaNoWriMo two years in a row now and sucessfully completed one novel :) I did it just to see if I could. I think it turned out ok. I've revised it twice, but I'm sure it needs more!
