Today is my 5 year SparkVersary. About that time was when I hit my all-time high of 222. Now I'm at 155.4—down 66.6 lb. Another 20 and I will evaluate my original goal of 125...is that really where I want to be or not? This is the lowest I've been in about 10 years. I like it! I'll try to get DH to take a "now" pic to post.

B: 41.5"- W: 37.0"- A: 46.0"- H: 41.0"- UA: 13.0"- T: 21.0"- C: 13.0"

8/31/2011 As a reminder to me, I'm updating my page in preparation for the Challenge. I'm gonna be brutally honest, and post ALL the stats, something I've not done on my SparkPage before:
SW: 178.6 lb. scale also says body fat is 45.1% or 80.6 lb. I'll be working to reduce BOTH of these poundages!
B: 42.5" - W: 39.75" - A: 47.25" - H: 42.5"

7/21/2011 22 months and 10 days following my triple bypass surgery, I've just come down from the hospital...false alarm, but I had all the tests to prove that I'm in good enough shape to be proactive about improving my fitness! It's not the way I would recommend for confirming my health, but I AM relieved to know that I can proceed normally. Trusty pedometer says I walked a whole 51 steps yesterday...that would be several trips throughout the day from my bed to the toilet and back.
Here we are on June 30, 2011, the 53rd month-a-versary of my first introduction to SparkPeople. I have learned a lot in that time. I have learned that I am easy to distract. I have also learned that it's possible to overprotect oneself. So...on this anniversary, I'm rejoining the community on a very limited basis. I won't be joining any challenges at this point, but I will post a finishing weight on the Spirited Underdogs 2011 5% Spring Challenge on Saturday. I'll be limiting my computer time while I focus on areas that need more attention than my typing skills! Mostly, I'm recommitting to getting fitter and healthier!
6/3/2011 I have realized that my computer habit has become an overwhelming addiction in my life. For this reason, I will be taking a break from all computering except for my online bookkeeping while I get my life back under control.
I will miss my wonderful SparkFriends, but I MUST teach myself to get up from the computer. In doing so, I WILL be working on establishing all sorts of good habits, just not logging them online. I have not closed my SparkPage, but I think I HAVE deactivated all of the notifications.
I WILL be back, but right now I can't say how long my hiatus will be. I LOVE YOU, SPARKPEOPLE.
As I go into this challenge, I'm looking at a follow-up chest X-ray next Friday. With treatment, I'm not sure how much energy I'm going to have, so at this point I will commit to walking as much as I can...probably slowly. I expect the results to be good, so before too long, I should be able to up the ante.
Since planning/buying/fixing/serving meals is a real challenge for me, I am going to be working on getting a firm grip in this area. That won't take much physical output, so should be a good area for me to focus on as I work on whatever's going on in my chest.
My goal is to go from 188.0 to 178.6 by July 2, 2011.
I CAN DO THIS!
With God's help, I WILL plan and prepare healthy meals and make strength training and cardio a regular part of my days.
I WILL seek God's plan for my days and try not to superimpose my own desires.
I WILL NOT beat up on myself when I stumble. I am an imperfect being and making consistent major changes in my life will NOT happen overnight. But I can make progress.
"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! ... Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy––meditate on these things. ~~~Phillippians 4: 4, 6-8
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." ~~~Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)
"You know the old saying, "First you eat to live, and then you live to eat"? Well, it may be true that the body is only a temporary thing, but that’s no excuse for stuffing your body with food. Since the Master honors you with a body, honor him with your body! ... remember that your bodies are created with the same dignity as the Master’s body. ... Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body." ~~~I Corinthians 6:13, 15, 19-20 (Message paraphrase)

Pat I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Dear God, please help me to remember that there is nothing that can happen to me that You have not permitted, and that if You have permitted it, You are right with me as I make my way over, under, around, or through it.
